this forum, IMO, needs more moderators. this isn't an attack against the wonderful mods we have now, but i read threads that will go way off topic during the work day. i'll read the forum during the work day and just see a thread ruined from a ******* match.

thanks,
paul

Hi Paul,

I understand where you are coming from. Of course, even with more mods, the whole crew of us will still be at work during the day and juggling families and stuff in the evening. We did add four more guys just a few months ago, to my great relief!

Maybe we'll bring this up in the mod forum.

Was gonna suggest international moderators

I find myself browsing the forums at times when most are asleep being 6 hours ahead

I wouldn't put myself forwards though as I haven't been here long enough nor am I well enough known to be considered. But international mod would be an good idea

We're around... But, like police, we're never here when you need us.

:lol::evil:

I like the idea of an Aussi mod or two, lots of spam comes in here from Asia during the wee hours of the morning.

I vote HOTFR8 for international mod. He often seem to pop in with the voice of reason, when things are going astray. I would put my hand up, however I dont think I have been around long enough and come here via cell browser on most occasions.

One day there is a thread that the board needs more moderators. The next day is a thread that the board is over moderated and why did so and so get banned or why did I get an infraction......:willy_nil

Lumping these all together is a mistake. I don't believe I've ever seen anyone mention that this site is over moderated. Equal application of the rules, not understanding why someone was was banned or why a post was deleted are frequently debated though.

First check of the classifieds this morning, I found 9 ads by the same person and at least one ad wanting info about a tool box.

Like Bull said try as we might but stuff still gets missed, if you see something PM one of us and we will address it ASAP. Also if you are not clear on a rule or infraction just ask via PM and we will assist and if I can not get the correct info I will ask another Mod for assistance.

Glad some one agreed with me.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I think I have been on enough forums to know when a voice of reason is needed. I am not going to nominate myself for it but if asked I would consider. We do have a group of great mods at present.

Many hands make light work. As for being banned :dunno: well if you break the rules of the forum you asked for it. ;)

You Guys often lock or delete a topic before I have seen it so given the time difference I miss many things but then perhaps the idea has merit given the forum is now so globaly used.

I am all for reasonable moderation, but PLEASE don't go overboard to the extreme that some other sites have done and start policing messages like some kind of gestapo communications police. I recently got censored and had messages deleted on another board that would have been standard daily banter here. I enjoy the fact that GJ members are much more broad minded and diverse than some of the tight sphincter types on some of the other forums I frequent.

good mods are hard to find, mostly because they work for free. I vote no more mods.

I have been a moderator and administrator on other sites. Currently own and run my own diesel site that is about a year old. I'd be happy to help out here if there is a need. But to me it looks like this site has a very well behaved group and needs very little moderation.

Just like to say Thanks to all the Moderators they have been great helped me when i need it and thanks to wrenchr for getting the guys to consolidate their classifieds. 8 or 9 ads in a half an hour is ridiculous and it looks like people are paying attention
