More pickin today

I went to look at a garage FULL of tools today, So full in fact, I had to enlist my neighbor who is a reseller and convince him for the right money going in on a full buy out. Well The guy wouldn't take our offer so I had to walk away with just a few items. First are the things I brought home. The other stuff I left behind is linked at the bottom. I estimated there was close to $3000 retail. I offered $1500 since there was sooooo much junk I would have to deal with as well, and tons of that stuff was nickel and dime items, so there would be a tons of time invested to resell. Hence the low bid. oh well......

Love that little arbor press. I would sure like to have that on my hobbiest bench!

The 1/3 HP C-man block grinder is worth $50 all day, especially with the nice stand.

Yeah he was excited to possibly venture into another market. He is a furniture reseller and owns 3 stores here local. But knows jack about tools. We have talked about a joint percentage split. He buys the merch. and I resell since I have a better knowledge on tool values and knowing what will sell and what won't. But I understand him being gun shy on it. I would do it my self, but I don't have that kind of scratch to tie up in one buy nor a place to store it all until it sells. He does....

Well, I feel I over paid on the block grinder, but I was trying to loosen the guy up a bit. I bought all of it for $110. That Atlas hone is worth many times what I paid for it, so I think I'll absorb the $75 I spent on the block grinder that I'm keeping. The dual shaft motor is a Dental Lathe. It purrs like no other. He had tons of vintage dental grinding/polishing equipment. I might sell the press if you are interested. I want a bigger one.

I don't think you really overpaid on the block grinder, especially with the stand, and even more especially since you are planning on keeping it.

That motor is sweet with the dual shaft. PM sent BTW.

Well this will be my 3rd Block grinder, and my second 1/3hp. I have a 1/2hp 8" and a 1/3hp 6". This is a 7" I think, kinda odd, maybe I miss measured the wheels. But the new one has bigger wheels than my other 1/3hp and this one has the cast guards and exhaust ports (sorry for the lack of the correct term) my other has stamped steel. Ill be selling the lighter duty one now I'm sure.

Those little arbor presses are neat, I've seen them before, but can't remember much about them. About how tall is it for scale? I can't remember the rating off the top of my head. Somewhere I have a page scan on them.

The light on the Cman is not original. But well done, not a hack job. And yes the drill chuck is a weird deal. It came with a 8" hone that was mounted to the arbor. I guess he didn't have a 4" to put in it so he improvised. But I hope to put a correct one in it, maybe even grind down the 8" to fit. The arbor press is about 8" tall not counting the stem. It's rather small. I will be selling it after cleaning it up. I want one, just a bigger one.

i think you made a good buy on the stuff for the age of the pieces you got they are extremely clean that atlas grinder is to cool

The little arbor press may be for a clock maker or jeweler. Pretty neat.
