I'm not particularly worried about ads in Free Parking at the moment. We've had ads in that forum for a while now... And we will continue to display ads there. I will, however, take a look at the density once I'm done fixing all this other ****.

Right now, I'm more concerned about the content that pays the actual bills - garages, tools, etc... and making sure those users aren't getting hit with ads.

I've never seen an AD on GJ. I'm on EDGE and no special AD removal program. Why are others having this happen?

@Ryan

I get your perspective on Free Parking.

Problem I see is a lot of useful topics get lumped into that area as well as they don't clearly fit the other categories. It's not all shenanigans

I am getting them across all categories. Contrary to what some may believe, I do venture out of Free Parking from time to time...
FWIW, showing ads in Free Parking isn't a bad thing, especially if AI is tailoring them to content... (or maybe not.....😳)

The ads I am seeing are specific to some parts and help I've been searching for today. Google searches. Win 11 computer.

while scrolling the grocery store rant, I just had the window change to one of those "your computer is infected! click here now to scan it" screens. W11, Chrome

Came to this sub to see if there was a post about this issue and sure enough....

I mostly hang out on the electrical sub and have been getting ads for the last week or so on there. cant remember how long.

because its using adobe flash, it has been causing my browser and display driver to crash, where my monitor turns to black and i have to shut off dual monitors. very frustrating...

the ads are also sucking down lots of system memory causing my browser to freeze up while scrolling... really annoying.. right now this one tab for garagejournal is taking almost 900MB.... usually its less than 200MB... nearly a gig of memory to run 1 tab is too much especially when its mostly text

Update: We've identified the issue... So you guys don't have to keep reporting... We are just struggling to fix it without breaking everything else. Full transparency, I could turn off all ads until it's fixed but I can't afford to do that at the moment.

This will get fixed though. Promise. And I apologize for the hassle fellas...

Well, over the past week or so I've been trying to nail down why "CT State Lottery" keeps opening when I'm browsing GJ.

Now tonight I'm reading a thread and get this:

Pretty obtrusive....

I had the same sephora ad on mobile (Firefox), but couldn't grab a pic. It later "shrank back" to only the bottom bar.

Android, Chrome.

Just did it again...

I can assure you, no one here is searching for makeup so that's both annoying and unproductive for Sephora

I've been getting the Sephora ads too. It fills in and encloses entire screen like a picture frame for a few seconds then drops down to bottom of screen.

Im using Chrome on an Android.
