I had ordered the gear wrench 34.99 specials, and they processed the order to ship to the wrong address...

I called their 800 #, and asked to change the shipping addresses...

She said she couldn't but I could just cancel them, and re-order. So i did that.

4-5 days later, i get 2 sets at the right address, and 1 set at the wrong address then another set at the right address.

So i've got 2 sets of metric, and 2 sets of standard spattered a crossed the state.

I finally get time to go to sears and return them.

2 hours. They had no idea how to return a internet purchase in the store, and they were really angry to have to take the return themselves.

I am out the 6.50 for shipping, and no way to prove i called and canceled the first order. They lady on the phone said that my order # was my cancellation confirmation #. Sure enough, no notes on that saying i canceled it.

what a pain in the ***. I should have just sold them on ebay.

I've spent a good 45 minutes sitting in the back office returning a few 3/4" drive sockets from the 3/10 deal a few months back.

Yup - I get a laugh when ever I see their positings for "hassle -Free returns"

Call up sears.com customer service and they should refund the shipping charges on the cancelled order.

For future returns on online purchases or in-store pick up - only 3 pieces of info are required -
These "should" be found on your email confirmation or on the invoice/packing slip.

When I went in with all my paperwork it took them forever for the amount of steps they had to go through. Something about refunding it first to a gift card and then back onto my credit card.

I guess it did take longer because I assured them I wanted it back on my credit card.

The problem was the lack of experience of the cashier -
Even with the paperwork they often don't enter in the string of info correctly- Or they try to enter the order number as the sales check # etc....Also the info on the invoices may be inconsistent- Ship date vs actual order date)

The store doesn't have a way to "look up" the transaction since it was not done at the store- This even goes for the in-store pick up of on-line purchases. Worst case is to have them call (or just do it yourself) the sears.com website cust service and have them pull up those 3 pieces of info for the return.

The key info is the
sales check, RC code, & sales date #-

I have walked brand new HS age sears employees through the process before.
I have also dealt with the stubborn employees that magically gets the refund to go through after telling me there is no way to do it or my transaction does not exist.

I have found that emails and phone calls to Sears often go ignored. If they won't refund your shipping fees on the supposed-to-be-cancelled order, and your CC company can't help you, file a complain with the BBB.

For some reason, once people complain to the BBB, then Sears takes notice, and someone will usually call, apologize, and tell you a gift card is on the way.

Yea, that was pretty much the issue they had,

Then they didn't want to enter their employee number as the original seller because it would count against them, and they were going to refund it to a gift card, which i didn't want...

It just seemed like a huge ordeal, and I know that sears.com and the box store might be different, but I guess i expected them to share a little common database full of useful stuff like, orders...

Either way it was a huge pain. I ordered online because i don't have time to go to the store... boy did that back fire.

And, in a year or two, people will be wondering why Sears couldn't compete and went out of business.

Last week I went to my local Sears with money in hand to purchase a Drill Doctor and a random orbit sander. They were both out of stock, but a young whipper snapper said he could go online and order both for me.

Fifteen minutes later...........he failed to order both and I finally left in desperation. I ended up purchasing them online from somewhere else. Cheaper and faster than through Sears.

It ***** when you try to support local business and they don't come through for you.

Don't forget to print out the confirmation e-mail that you recieve. this is YOUR RECIEPT. The info will be on your packing slip but is easier to find on the e-mail reciept.

i would like to appologize for the problems that you have. At the store I work at we rarely have problems like this. Alot of it has to do with sales associates who don't give a ****.

sears.com website order number- Fortunately Orders were accessed at the pick up kiosk via CC.

x3.

Everytime I order from them I just pray they get it right the first time. If they make a mistake, I'm sure to get screwed in some way, be it multiple charges or just hours on the phone trying to explain my situation and get it corrected.
