I have a Morgan Milwaukee 80 that my son gave me. It is in new shape and has never been mounted to a table or the jaws used. The jaws are ten inches wide. It is too big for my bench. What is it worth? I have pictures but can't get them to load on here. Thanks for any and all info on it.

Yeah we need pics!

A Morgan 8" would not have the value of a Wilton 800N, Reed 108, or Yost but would be higher than a Columbian in my opinion. Location would help too, some areas of the country are harder to find vises in. Shipping that 187 pound vise would be expensive!

Kad: can you use the paperclip above where you write your posts to attach a picture like you do on emails? give it a try if you have any pictures.

I just saw an older 8 inch Morgan sell for $150 in Alabama, but you said yours is new? just curious how you were able to put your hands on a new one since Morgan only sells vises to the US government now?

pictures would help and don't be shy about your location so just put it up in your profile so we can help you. even the state would give us a better idea and if shipping is involved some thoughts to that might be figured in since your vise is a little too big to ship through USPS flat rate boxes.

i might be interested in buying it if you really can't find a spot on your bench for it or i can trade you a pristine Wilton or other vise for it if yours is actually new.

Morgan will sell to any company. I called them on prices and they had no problem selling to me under my employer or my buddy's LLC that im loosely affiliated with. That vise new is about $1300.

ummmm no

actually, it's technically a Morgan 180 (due to its swivel base) and it's about $2600 delivered, so you were only 100% wrong (which beats being 200% wrong, I suppose!)

Source: I own this same vise.

And anyone who thinks that any Reed, Parker, Wilton or Yost 8" has anything on this vise, I would love for you to enlighten me, it's a beast! (212 lbs.)

actually I traded $400 ebay value in tools for it, $150 didn't seem close to being fair.

WC: i agree $150 was a great deal for the old Morgan you bought, but it was another $150 or so to have it shipped to me. i still would have paid that, but while the owner was trying to pull it apart to show me why it had a bunch of slop you found his ad and didn't need to pay shipping. i'm guessing the pin just needed adjusting on the vise nut?

good to know it found a good home and maybe post a picture of yours for this thread even though it's not even close to new?

the slop ended up being a little $5 piece of metal, easy fix

I am in the process of bringing it back to better than new!

will post pics when it is done!

It also has a very interesting history, it was seen in a famous documentary on television, PM me for details! - It came from a very scary and deadly foundry.

WC: i think you mentioned that on another thread. if i recall you might have started a thread on restoring your Morgan 80? if so do you have a YouTube link to post over there showing the vise at it's scary foundry?

ALL: I'm still laughing about that modified tape repair and WWN's comment.

I called them a good 6 months before I posted so I can easily see where I was wrong in remembering the price. That's it, turn me in for giving wrong information on the internet.

To be fair to you that picture showing the swivel base was posted later, going by a non-swivel vise price and weight would be lower.

the swivel base adds approximately $400 in cost and about 25 lbs. to the base Morgan 80 (and makes it look much more badass  )
