36" or larger pipe wrench
There is no way I could do some of my work without one
The main gas line fittings are 6", blowdown piping is 4",
bottom blow valve fittings are about 8"

absolutely! vise grips are the ******* worst! you know you messed up when you are going at it with pliers for a wrench! I dont care what kind of quality vise grips are, its just one of those tools, if you are contemplating pulling it out, you are not having a good time. think about it, what is an "accepted" use for vice grips? nothing. you pull it out when something went wrong, since its not the right tool for any job.
on that note, i nominate ez outs/ spiral extractors as a most hated tool. I have tried them a few times, and only once have they worked. the other times i got to go buy some expensive drill bits and drill through those stupid things! I should have just drilled and tapped in the first place!
1) Any tool made in China
2) Any tool made in India
They keep telling me that quality control is improving but every time I weaken and buy one I either get hurt or very pissed off![]()
I hate cresent wrenches with a passion, They never fit right so i have to put it on the bolt then tighten it then I need to loosen it to get it back on the bolt and i mean what the hell! if you have a set of wrenches you dont need an adjustable. If any one can tell me anything an adjustable can do that a open end wrench of the same size cant I will buy you one.
Couldnt agree more. i just came back on here to add that to my list. It seems like the only time they are any good is when you have to clamp the ****** piss out of them. then when im DONE using them, the worse part of all, releasing them, they hurt, leave indentations in my hands, burns my skin, and i have to anticipate where they will launch to when they brake free. Really, could you make any less of an ergonomic release lever?![]()

Ever try to replace a brake chamber without one? If you dont lock down the push rod the chamber will launch. Then you would have to force the rod back in when re-installing the new chamber.Swivel air line seized? Grab the Vise Grips and spin it free. Working in a truck cab and the door keeps closing on you? Vise Grips will keep it open. Some of the many uses. If they are pinching your hands then you are using it wrong. Never in my life have I had my hand pinched.
