84" epiq, 2 lockers, and all the overheads, big $$$. Looks pretty nice, I wonder how useful the narrower but still 30 deep overheads are on the lockers?

its kind of f'd up. not sure i would want him working on my stuff when that is the only thing on his mind...

work on your customers car and leave your hobby at home.

I 100% agree.

The place where you will spend approximately 1/3rd of your life should be completely devoid of any personalization or anything that could possibly bring you joy.

You'd have hated my office. It was a temple to simple joys. Yet I received state and federal accolades for my work. What's on your wall may not always be what's in your mind.

wow, struck a nerve i guess. i have no issues with things from your personal life to make your space somewhat personal. a few pictures, mementos, your favorite color, what ever floats your boat in some sort of moderation/good taste.

would you like your doctor to have his mid evil torture device collection on full display in his exam room?

should your attorney have her 500 beany baby collection in her office?

how about your veterinarian and his room full of life size taxidermy in the waiting room?

how about your kids teacher having their gun collection on the wall of the classroom?

if you want to be a professional at your job, at least attempting to give the appearance of one is a good start.

Because I'm bored...

Retail prices from the Snappy website..
84" Epic...............call it $21k (depends on configuration)
Lockers .........6-7k each depending on model
Overhead cabinets.... 3.5k for the center and 2.3k for each smaller one
Not sure on the hutch...snappy website only shows a 60 inch one for 4.7k so I bet the 84" has to be around 6k.

So yeah that right there is right over $49,000. But nobody pays retail for the big name boxes.

That and a lot of those "trinkets" are made by people who 3d print them. Not my cup of tea personally, but they're kind of cool since they're DIY. Like I said, not my thing, but it's somewhat impressive to see one made from scratch. I wouldn't want to try to keep that sort of thing clean with all the dust and soot in the air, maybe dealerships are cleaner?

I have a calendar with pictures of my cat.

Just how much money can a mechanic working for a dealership earn?

Depends on your priorities. I don't take vacations, own motorcycles, drink/use drugs, etc - you end up with a lot of extra money.

I once had a $150/month gym membership I used 5 days a week. Guys couldn't comprehend the cost, while they smoked 2 packs a day.

why would i hate your office?

would you hate mine? i have a shadow box with model tractors, some small tools, my dads pocket knife with his name on it, shells and sand from my favorite anna maria beach, a meger wildlife print and a picture of the last facebook post a friend made about me the day before he died. oh yeah, a gerstner chest full of mementos and my ruger single six in a cowboy leather holster. i have a few awards myself.

that said, i want my yard, my buildings, my fields and my equipment to look good for others to see and not cluttered or in disarray.

i think my comment may have caused you offense when it was not meant to. you are one of the good ones here.

1/3? Shoot, we’ve got guys at the shop that practically live there.

I’ve noticed that as you get more years in experience and age, the more homey you make your box and area. New guys have things clean and neat, older guys have coffee makers, stickers, figurines, etc.
I think I'd prefer a nerd work on my cars. Sure beats some meathead in a toxic wiener emporium that uses terms like "send it".

Hey now, “Just send it” was the unofficial motto of the night shift when I worked it. 😂

I worked in software... but I kept a bunch of things I'd made in a machining class at the local CC at night sitting around in my office for people to fiddle with while we talked. These days, they can watch me fiddle with them on Zoom.

After a few minutes of fiddling, they’d forget why they came, and left me alone. I’d change the pile slightly in case they came back too soon. Melted relays, interesting rotary switches, melted plastic pieces, so many options. All things I discovered during. troubleshooting and brought back to life.

This is the way
This is the tech’s office. ;)

Not sure how I feel on this one. Doubt I’d want to walk into a doctors office and see his collection of expensive concert tickets and tour memorabilia all over the wall. Wouldn’t want to walk into a pizzeria and see their collection of moth and beetle specimen displayed on the wall. Yet there’s a barber shop with taxidermy around, and I like it.

I had to find a new dentist during the pandemic. Ended up at this clinic where he had the walls hung with pictures and mementos of all the Iron Man Triathlon events he'd participated in. Made me a little nervous, but he took care of my issue quick.

Excuse me sir, that shade isn't quite beige enough. What are you, some sort of individual?
That is effing funny. My shop, which is my office now, is antique white, walls and ceiling. And I chose that color, specifically for its reflectivity. But, there's so much **** hanging on the walls, you'd hardly know.

My plastic surgeon/orthopedist had about 20 hunting trophies in a waiting room with a huge stone fireplace and slate floors with Indian and African rugs scattered all over. He had a head or two in every examining room.
