Hi folks.

I live in southwest Michigan and I'm building a new 40x80' pole barn. In the never ending research that ensues, I stumbled onto this forum and decided to join. This is my first pole barn and I have a seemingly endless amount of questions to ask. After jumping lots of hurdles I think I may actually be ready for the builder to start drilling holes for the posts in about a week and a half.

So far I've had to clear a lot of trees, truck in a lot of dirt, move the buried propane tank, reroute some utilities and upgrade the electrical service to allow for the addition of the barn. Now working on a retaining wall to contain some of aforementioned dirt. (Had to build on a mild slope)

I'll find the proper threads to start asking questions rather than asking them here . . . But I'm happy to join the new crowd of enthusiasts and hope to learn a lot!

Welcome, and good luck with your build. I know what you will be going through. I built a 40 x 72 two years ago.

Hello and welcome from Ohio! Yes it seems like the cost of the actual shop is minimal compared to everything else.....retaining walls, fill dirt, utilities, drain pipe, etc. it's endless, I know! Good luck.
