Most unused tools you have?

What are the most unused (non-specialty) tools you've bought?

For me it's this hydrokinetics wrench. I ordered one a year and half ago and only used the darn thing twice.

After that comes a 7" Vise Grips locking wrench. It's well made, but I have other tools that just work quicker.

Third would be my corded incandescent drop-light.

It is hard to say because my unused tools end up in the dark corners at the bottom of the toolbox, so I don't even know what is down there anymore.

The last time I looked through the unused stuff, I saw some tools for working on drum brakes. I tried using them once and decided they were useless, so I've never touched them again. I should have tossed them in the trash years ago when I found them useless.

I found that the only tool I needed was a flat jaw Vise Grip to work on drum brakes.

Like the post above .. You buy special tools in good faith and end sending them to the back and use what you always used before buying the special tool ..

I have a few special engine tools but they dont count in this ..

Snap On FLF80.
Bought it off Craigslist for fifty bucks. The guy was an electrician and told me 'we use kline and stuff, I have no need for a Snap On'. I was giddy from getting SO for a good deal, but imagine my surprise when I got in the car and saw it was stamped USA.
For that, I can't part with it but I've also found I've never used it. Not turned one fastener.

Not because I don't want to, but because I haven't come across a situation that demanded it yet.

For me it would be Ramset .22 stud gun with a lifetime supply of loads, bolts and nails for it. I inherited it from my Dad after he died so I've never really considered getting rid of it.

1/4 inch drive stuff.... I work on tractors and other large equipment.. All I use 1/4 inch drive for is breaking loose tight grease zerks.... Maybe if I had a decent rachet in 1/4 I'd use em more. Craftsman *****... But it's hard to justify spending money on a tool I only use once a week

For me its wobble exstentions. Ever since i bought universal sockets and adapters, i havent touched them.

Yes its from HF but its real fine tooth and real strong, id be hard pressed to find better quality at a reasonable price like that!

ok, now don' take this the wrong way, you have to understand I'm from the UK.... & sometimes someone back home will find something & send it off to me to use...

So I open a package one day & this was one of the items in there... a tin containing a bunch of different sized, assorted reamers..

On the outside of the tin was this gem, perhaps you can understand why they don't get much use...

Facom P0, P1, P2, P3 and P4 screwdrivers bought circa 1995. Red handles and minty fresh sadly.Never turned a screw and tossed into the back of the box after the purchase. Made in France.

Thought they were cool until a Snappy hard handle purchase. Then the Facom's were just fluff.

bought a harmonic balancer puller 9 months ago, still in the plastic case

bought a snap on pulley puller for chevy power steering pumps 8 months ago, still in the plastic wrap.

bought a dodge harmonic balancer puller few weeks ago, still in the plastic.

bought a blue point drum mic few weeks ago, used it once, to make sure it worked.

i have to agree, i have the soft handle version, and its my most used ratchet, maybe cus it my only dual 80 (my other ratchets are bluepoint i got in a kit when i started and craftsmans i have as back ups)

Probably service/speciality tools for me.

I've got a spindle puller, 4wd locknut sockets, and ball joint press I bought two to three years ago and have not used them yet. I did try the press out to pop out an old U-joint, but thats it.

Most of the tools I have that are specialty dont get used much. like the flywheel puller for stihl saws used a couple of times, but if I need it I got it

Having them beats not having them.

Most all of my regular hand tools get used fairly often.

i have to agree, i have the soft handle version, and its my most used ratchet, maybe cus it my only dual 80 (my other ratchets are bluepoint i got in a kit when i started and craftsmans i have as back ups)

I look at it as a kind of insurance policy......with a high premium

I actually used mine yesterday. My flex version was just the right size for taking the top rear diff bolts out of a Z3. I had to break them loose with a torque adapter, extension an a 1/2 long ratchet but they wouldn't thread out by hand.

I would have to say crowsfeet are the most unused tool I have other than some odd socket sizes. I don't use them often but when I need them, nothing else will do. Plus all the variations give you an excuse to buy another tool. I have them up through 46mm as well as 1/4 drive 12 point flare nut crowsfeet. Another basically unused tool I have is a kobalt and gearwrench through ratchet sets. They're stuffed off in the bottom drawer of my box below other stuff so I didn't even think about them.

There is a bunch I SeLDOM use. Duckbill pliers, Speeder handles, gasket scrapers, 3/8 impact wrench and 1/2 long handle ratchet. These are all common tools I NEVER use. Other stuff just works better for me. I figured I would use the 1/2 long handle ratchet alot, but between the 18" breaker bar and 1/2 impact gun...it just sits.

All I ever have to do is the pencil coils on the Scenic/Megane, the crank sensor on clios and the odd laguna/coolant sensors on Citroens/Peugeots.

Sometimes I will pull a rear hub when the brake lining falls off the brake shoe on a clio or a 206.

The earth leads for 206/clios I can do.

I carry a throttle cable repair kit as well.

I carry batteries.

And the alternators/belts are pretty easy on the TU PSA engines.
