Why would a motion light over the garage door come on during the daylight and stay on when it is suppose to only come on at night with motion and turn off 10 minutes thereafter.

Did you just power it up ?

If you just installed it and flipped the power on, the light will come on for the set amount of time. If the light has been there a while, the photocell could be bad.

The ones I have are duration and sensitivity adjustable. Maybe it needs tweaking.

Or are you talking about one of the flood light style motion sensor lights, similar to this:

It is a Utilitech Model TMQ150UT Flood light style motion sensor with two 150watt Par 38 Bulbs. It has been staying on during the day long enough to burn out both bulbs which I just replaced, but it is still not working correctly which is to be brought on at night by motion, and remain on 10 minutes it no more motion appears.
