I think I asked this before, but the motion lights on my barn face east and west so they get a lot of sun and it just bakes and destroys the plastic sensor part of the light

Anyone found a workaround with this problem

Pir sensors today are disposable tooling. The materials used are cheap and will not stand up to strong uv rays or high temperatures. That’s why they’re cheap. Some radar based units are out there. I’m working with Arduino and a 50’ radar detector for a system.
Look for a different device than the pir sensors.

In my opinion, there is no outdoor motion sensor on the market that's worth a damn. None. Even the professional ones are marginally satisfactory.
Consider a different strategy. LEDs use so little wattage that it's possible to leave them on all night without paying a fortune to the power company. Timers can reduce this even more and aren't all that expensive. Smart switches, too.
Good luck,
CD

Agreed - every single motion sensor I have ever owned was eventually bypassed because of failure, usually within two years or less. What about dusk-to-dawn sensors, like those used on streetlights? Or perhaps the sunset/sunrise timers/switches? Are there any available that are worth recommending?
