My comment on plastic cases -- I I prefer to organize and store my tools in plastic cases but often can't because the manufacturer didn't think it out well.

I want the case to be as small as possible and I want the dimensions to be scaled to the dimension of a 26" drawer. For example, I have a 3/4" drive set that is 1/4" longer than the drawer, so I can't use it. Other cases I have are slightly longer than half the length of a drawer or the width, preventing fitting multiple cases in a drawer.
Lastly, I want the top removable. Even better if it could nest under the bottom of the case in the drawer.

all very good points, sometimes you get lucky, but most times not.

Hunter -

I just purchased your oil filter wrench to do the job on my 2017 Camry and Tundra. It worked great! I have a box full of oil filter wrenches collected over a life time but bought this new one after reading some posts about the difficult removing the relatively new design oil filter cartridges with replaceable filter elements. Did the Camry today and had to use a 1/2" breaker bar to get it loose - it's only supposed to be torqued to 18 ft-lbs but was amazingly tight - previous changes had been done by the Dealership (free via ToyotaCare - yet to do the Tundra as they are currently taking care of that). I torqued it back per spec (again, using your tool) and we will see how hard it comes off next time.

I was really glad I had this tool.....rock solid. Thanks!

You're welcome. It's amazing how tight those caps can be isn't it. Glad it worked well for you and thanks for the great feedback.

Yeah what did happened to the socket rails?

Glad this thread got revived though.

Hunter, I have been using the vw 4 tab quarter turn adapter with your funnel since you guys released it and I love it. I am a vw Audi mechanic, been my livelihood since 2005. When the gen3 turbo cars came out in late 2012 with that style oil cap and the worlds smalled most baffled hole for filling oil, myself as well as my whole shop was soooo annoyed everytime we had to change oil on one of them. Your product made life so much easier. After a few other techs saw me with the funnel setup and how much easier and cleaner it was, they went out and purchased their own setups also.

Glad you guys like it. We have a few other new adapters coming out as well. We just finished the design for the Ford Ecoboost. For some reason they ever so slightly changed the locking system for the cap so our regular Ford adapter doesn't fit. We also have another new adapter that better fits the Hemi, Mini, and a few others which is going into production shortly.

We recently moved into a new building and are expanding our R&D and prototyping capabilities which I think will show with some of our other new products we have in the works. You can expect to see those released later this year.

I purchased your 74mm 14 flute socket a few mongths ago and I have to say that this is a very nice casting; kudos to your tool maker! I much prefer this to the stamped steel versions. It doesn't hurt that this is also much more aesthetically pleasing. I might only use this twice a year, but well worth the $16.

Also, do you guys happen to make a non spill funnel adapter for 996 or 997 generation 911's? I haven't been able to find one, and our oil fill funnels have some features that doesn't allow us to leave a funnel just sitting there while we pour, so it becomes a juggle of holding a funnel with one hand hand holding a 5 qt. jug in the other.

We'll order up an oil filler cap for the 996 / 997 and see what we might have that might fit it. I think the biggest problem is going to be that angle, it will need an adapter to make the upper portion more upright. We are working on an angle adapter that goes between the upper and lower pieces but that won't be available anytime soon I don't think.

Do you folks have a filter wrench that fits a WIX 1372 or 1515? These appear to be a 15-flute design.

I've only seen plastic or sheet metal ones, and the sheet metal ones I have, I always have to fight to get off the old filter.

Yours look quite nice, but not seeing one that appears it would fit my application. Would certainly like to upgrade!

Edit to add: Looks like it would be a 93mm/15-flute job.

Can you guys put better o-rings on the funnels? I bought one for my hellcat and it dried out after 1 use. It completely crumbled.

Also if you need a tool idea, make a E-torx swivel impact socket set. It doesn't exist!!!!

Is it the o-ring between the upper and lower funnel pieces or is it the one on the lower that attaches to the car? If you need another one I can get you one sent out at no charge. I'm not aware of any issues with those but I'll have someone check into that.

I've seen the e-torx in a swivel but only non-impact. Is there a specific application for these that you have in mind?

Just needed impact compatible swivel sockets to work on bmw's. Everything is a E-torx. Non impact ones fall apart if you use them with an impact.

Well that doesn't look good, they're not supposed to do that. PM me your address if you want a new o-ring and I'll have one sent out for you.

BMW does love their E-torx. We are working on some socket sets but no impact sockets, not yet anyway. I added that to our idea list, thanks for the request!

As for the other oring, I wrote customer service an email about my concerns of the ultra thin oring that goes between the upper and lower because even though I lubed it up I see a slight slither of rubber came off when I assembled the two. You wouldn't happen to know the size of that oring so if it starts leaking I could source a new one. Motivx customer service felt like it was about 48mm OD and 1mm thick but I know 50mm OD and 1mm cross-section is a much more popular size of oring and was wondering if you knew the actual measurement?

Yes it does use a 93mm / 15 flute filter wrench. We do have one that the molds are being made for now and should go into production sometime next month. Here's a photo of one of the prototypes on the 51515.

It is a pretty thin o-ring. For a replacement, use a 44x1. 44mm id, 46mm od, 1mm diameter. The actual o-ring land is 47.5mm but it needs to fit pretty snugly.

I have your Toyota oil funnel and the drain system/oil filter housing wrench for the Toyota Avalon (can-less oil filter) and it's awesome. Great job Motivx!

I hope you guys have more to offer in terms of specialty tools than your competition. Literally anyone can go to Taiwan and find something to rebrand.

I 1000% agree with that statement. For that exact reason we have invested heavily in our in-house design team, prototyping equipment, R&D, and intellectual property resources over the last 6 months. I think you will start seeing the results of this towards the end of the year.

We may not ever have as many part numbers as some of the big brands, but I can say that what we come out with will be better and a large percentage (we're going for 100%) will be off our own molds / dies.

Nice. It's refreshing to see someone go this route. GL!

I have used the Motivx oil funnel for 6-7 years now. I have a different vehicle and went to buy the adapter for it and I noticed a lot of products are out of stock. Has anyone heard how Motivx is doing or have any context on the stock/ lead time situation?
