Well gentlemen I am new to the forum. But I thought I would document and share my shop build. My shop will be 24'×40' on the outside. Framed 10' walls with attic trusses in the front and scissor trusses in the back half. This is to support a vehicle lift in the future. Just poured the pad today. I think I got one kinda crappy photo during the prep stage. But I wasn't planning on documenting until just now. I will update as I progress.

Hey mate Welcome!

Looks like you have some solid foundation for a good 2 to 3 car garage! By the look of it your in the suburbs, so like me, lack the room for some sprawling HUGE garage that i know i am envious about when i look on here.

Did you have the slab poured thicker to accommodate the hoist in the future?

What are you planning on filling it with?

Rudi.

Yeah the slab has 8"x18"thickened edges with #5 rebar. The top portion is 6" thick with a 2'x2' #4 rebar grid.

I've got a two car attached garage full of motorcycles and tools. And my poor truck is to tall and long to fit in there. My wife got a new car and wants to park it in the garage. So naturally I have to build one for myself. She can have the old one!

Ok I'm back with some progression pictures. I got the walls framed and stood up. Did this 100% solo /flex! But seriously a 17ft glulam is no fun to hang solo. I ended up rigging up a system with a few ratchet straps and two 8ft ladders. Hey it worked and no one died so win win!

We are moving forward on a pool and garage build similar in size. My wife wanted the pool so I get the garage after the pool so I'll be watching your build in the mean time. Good luck and it looks good so far.

On to the next progress pictures. Couldn't find any help to set trusses last weekend. So I got some pretty soild guys after work on friday. With 3 of us plus my 17 yr old son. Ee set all 21 trusses. I'm so sore lol! Everything went very smooth. Although in hindsight I think I will hire a crane if I ever do another build. I now have to wait for a inspection before I can continue. Anyone have suggestions for the eve lengths on either end? Im thinking about 1 foot. 2 feet seems to much.

Looks good so far.
Two foot side eaves and one foot on gable ends on my house and it looks fine.
Looking to build a similar sized 24x38 garage with floor trusses and framed rafters with a dormer on one side if I can clear the town and county board.
Good luck with your build.

Ok it has been forever since my last update. My wife forced me on vacation right in the middle of sheeting the roof. I have been sooooo bad about progress pics. So I installed the windows/doors/garage door. Also finshed sheeting everything and roofed the shop. Installed a pull down attic ladder for the small room. And now I can at least keep stuff out of the weather!
Forced my 17 & 16 yr olds sons to sheet the shop. Anything to get them off the Xbox!

Nice, build! What is the pitch size of the scissor at attic. What's the dimension of the room in the attic?

Pitch is 8/12 overall. The interior of the scissor trusses are 4/12. So its like 14' in the center. The attic room is 8' wide x 6' tall and 18' long. Of course the top cornors are pitched in that room. But the center is about 5' wide where its flat. Its a nice storage nook. I've been calling it the boom boom room as a joke.
