I have a question about megging a motor. I do not have a high voltage megger,
But I notice my Fluke model 17 has a meg ohm scale. Is this a reliable method of testing the insulation on a motor. I work mostly with squirrel cage motors and some variable speed under 500 HP and usually less than 1500v AC.

I agree with HTGTS350. You can usually trust the Fluke 17 if it shows a motor bad, but you can't trust it if it shows "good". It may still be bad.
