Hey all, been a long time since I posted here.

I recently picked up this old buffer/grinder on Facebook marketplace. I happened to see it about 30 minutes after it got posted, and I beat a huge crowd apparently.

In summary: It's wired for 110v and does run - heard it before I got it. It needs a new cord at the minimum. It's got ~9" wheels on it right now, which need to come off so I can get the guards off. Unfortunately it also has 2" nuts on it, so I also need to get a wrench/socket before I can take those off!

Any tips for cleaning up the motor tag? I'd like to know what kind of amps I'm going to be drawing.

I would love to just clean it up a little bit and get it back to usable. So, new cord and potential for more wiring fixes.

I'm going to attempt to remove the 's' from 'https' in your Imgur links and see if I can get them to work. They might be visible to you but they're not to most of the rest of us. This sounds like an interesting grinder.

Images are now showing up for me at least. Not sure about others.

Do you think this motor tag is covered with crud from years of polishing? I'm not sure what to recommend without also removing the important stuff below.

I can see the pictures now, thanks for fixing the links.

The motor tag does look pretty corroded, I'm not sure if there's enough left of the original stamps to be readable. You could try scrubbing it with a piece of Scotchbrite.

Unscrew the tag to keep the process localized, and then brush with a stiff nylon brush and Kroil. I have had luck cleaning up corroded tags like that.

Hard to believe that machine is 115V, but the label does not lie. Amazing machine, that is quite the beast of a buffer. Could be a very nice, useful tool.

Got some of it torn back apart today, the "shields" off, and put a little bit of fresh grease in it.

Here's the link to the YouTube vid of it running. Runs great, really smooth. I have a new cord to splice in that should make it that much safer to use as well.
