I have an old Rockwell contractors 1-1/2Hp table saw. I damaged the electrical cord between the plug and the switch box and the replacement spade connectors precludes the box cover from fully closing. The existing switch is a simple toggle.
I can get a 2Hp switch with a box for $100. Or I can purchase this mag starter from Grizzly
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000DD799/?tag=atomicindus08-20
for a little less. The grizzly mag switch enclosure is plastic.
I have researched other mag starters but the literature suggests I would need a thermal overload with the mag switch. My motor has a thermal overload on the motor. I didn't completely cost out one of the well known mfg's mag switches though the price might be over $300-$400.
Questions:
Is the Grizzly mag switch acceptable?
There are a lot of options when specifying mag switches are any of these appropriate for this use? (example, non reversing would be an appropriate option).
What does "reset" do in a mag switch?
Are there other mag switches with better enclosures that might be in the $100 to $200 range?
Any other comments or suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
