I have an OLD sears compressor--lay down unit--i took out of a body shop several years ago and had in my garage since.
It is big- alot more quiet then my brothers oil less 60 gallon napa unit
AND RESPONDS VERY WELL
A few days ago the motor decided to give up the ghost
it is after all from the early 70's .
It is a DOERR 5HP--1740 RPM --230 [1 1/8" shaft size]
I took it in to my electrical shop and they said it fried the armature[ time for a new motor].
They priced a new BALDOR for $ 639.00--and a AO SMITH for $573.00.
I think they are both too high but wanted thoughts on this.
I really like my SEARS [it has done great in the old shop and in my garage for alot of years.
IDEAS AND THOUGHTS --THANKS
