Here, just in case your interested!

Steve

get that and reinforce as needed, you probably can't buy that raw material for $99.

as to the trailer vs carrier deal...
I bought the regular steel cargo carrier with -%20 off it was $59.99 I modded the outer hoop with 2 channels for my sons klx110. We can now take it to the fam's or where ever and not have to jack with a trailer, I love it and already have a 2 bike trailer.
I am actually looking at buildin a 2 bike carrier so i can strap my WR250 on it,
Its nice to throw it in the hitch, no flats, wheel bearings or lights to deal with.:willy_nil

You can build a bike carrier pretty cheap. I wouldn't trust those $100 carriers or their wobbly attachments.
I can't find the pictures of my carrier at the moment but will post them later on if I can.
Mine is home built by a buddy. The attachment is hard to explain but I'll try.
He uses a large cap head bolt. The cap head is the same size as the receiver pin and the hole drilled into the carrier that fits into the receiver is only drilled to take the cap bolt. As you tighten the bolt, it pulls the carrier to one side of the receiver preventing the carrier from wobbling back and forth.
I have used this carrier for carrying my 220lb dirtbike for over 4 years now without any problems. It is very heavy duty and probably weighs about 60lbs. I've even dragged it across the pavement a few times pulling into some parking spots.

Hi I'm new here and I signed up just to see who could build me a heavy duty motorcycle hitch carrier that would hold up 1200lb plus for my harley. I have seen them for 1000 lb and I cant seam to find one that will hold my bike that i could put on the back of my 5th wheel rv. I have a 2003 police bike and when i googled the weight it was over 1200 lbs. Anybody want to shoot me some builds they have done and prices. Staying under $2000 so wont need hydraulics or anything expiensive. Just durable. Dont want to lose my bike. Thank you
