Does anyone work out of a 10 x 12 shed that has some bikes in it? I'm in the design stage and am limitid to 120sqft floorspace by the township; otherwise I get hammered by extra taxes and fees. Any ideas would be helpful; what a great thread.

I worked out an 8'x8 for the summer. I wish I had gone to the full 99.99 sq ft that was legally allowed but I managed. It housed my generator, lawnmower, pressure washer, toolbox, and my motocycle, leaving just enough room to change the oil and adjust the valve lash.

I did work out of a 11.5x15, and it wasn't too bad. Just make sure that you keep anything big on wheels so you can roll it out of the shop when you want the room in there.

Geez, that stinks. Those local zoning boards seem to inevitably turn into little empires.

That doesn't sound right. Is it that you are allowed a 120 sq ft shed (tax free) and would have to pay more property taxes if you built a permanent structure?

Am I allowed to show my 4-wheeler work area in this post? Training wheels are still attached, maybe when I grow up I can take them off or get a 2-wheeler. :lol_hitti

Enough room for me to work on projects or service my quad.

I'd fix your electric wiring, That looks like that might cause a problem

I have an 8x10' shed that holds 2 old Triumphs, an XR250, and a Honda Elsinore. Whenever I need to work on one, I wheel it into my spare bedroom which is basically my shop. I got a real understanding girlfriend. Hopefully breaking ground on at least a 600 sq ft garage in the back this year. As nice as it is to work inside the house, the lack of space is killing me.

Taxes are part of the issue; the other part is our elaborate patio/pond taking up the permanent space allowed. (development rules).

My old house... No garage, but a motorcycle room though ;)

The bike I got as a X-mas present, from me, to me, in 2003

The house was getting crowded:
3 ATV's, and 2 motorcycles in the rear room, was getting cramped...

New house with a garage, but I still need to keep some in the house...

Markito, nice neat and clean! I'm envious! I just finished bolt my EXC 300 engine back together after rebuilding the bottom and top end. I've determined I need to reorganize my work space!

I posted these in another thead, but think they belong here as well. They share their space with two cars, but this is essentially a motorcycle garage:

Jim, thanks.. you seem to know a thing or two about motorcycles, namely BMW's and boxers... any recommendations on getting a good break in? and when to switch to a synthetic?

Typically it is advised to wait until the 6K service to switch. Some say later, but I see no reason to wait longer.

Break in, for me, consists of 4K rpm for the first 500 miles, then increas 1K RPM after that every thousand miles.

Thanks,

Jim
