Formek, I guess I'm just overly cautious with my lid, I know what you were talking about, however if you have a vertical section, with different "branches" heading out at an angle, the top of the cap will be pointing up at an angle (say 45*), so the edge of the cap (between the top and side) will be what the helmet is resting on.

Like I said, I'm overly paranoid of my lid though, as I use it daily.

@Northern Ninja, what wood did you use for the cabinet? Looks like something I could use in my kitchen/dining area for my gear. Sure would be nice to have a dedicated area. How did you secure the shelves, screw the in place, or use an adjustable system?

I used birch, stained with a cherrywood, and the shelves are adjustable.

Cool, thanks, That seems like it would be a decent project to try my hands at some finer woodwork, more than simple 2X4s and plywood.

Just gotta make it taller for my one piece suit.

Any ideas ?

I have now about 5 helmets They are taking up too much shelf space I would like to store them up the right way and not hang them by the strap as they seem to make good nests when stored that way,

Local bar here in town has several shifters mounted on wall in a line.

they don't move all are in N each has different shift gate / boot etc and all bikers that come in can hang their helmets on shifters
looks nice. also each shifter is spaced enough that helments don't hit each other

I picked up some slatwall when I did my recent garage remodel. Got some of the long hangers you see in the store to hold bagged candy and such as well. The hanger fit anywhere you want them to be in the slatwall and the hanger itself goes right through the open face of a motorcross helmet. Also allows air to go out and dry them quicker. I will have to see if I can snap a pic.... helmets were a nightmare for me too.

I used a single cabinet that I found on clearance.

Wire type shelving in my mud room. I use the top shelf for our skid-lids as they are out of the way and dry nice and fast.

I make helmet holders that mount on the wall. They are either single or double and also have hooks for keys and a jacket. If interested you can email [email protected]
I have mine mounted next to where I park my bike in my garage and when I take off my helmet it goes right there. I can send pictures.
