Motorcycle rack storage

I seem to be accumulating more motorcycles than I can ride and am running out of space to store them. My shed has 12' side walls so it looks like some sort of racking/shelving is my best option. I'm on the fence on whether to use pallet type racking or just build some wood shelves (say about 5' off the ground level since that is as high as my lift will go). Anyone have any photos or experience with what works the best?

Pallet racking works well. If your bikes are less than 36" wide you can lift them between the beams of standard 42" wide racks with a block and tackle or electric hoist.

From the picture above,
it looks like you need to step it up a bit, and get a fork lift and some decent racks.

man if I had that high of walls I'ld have a bunch more m/c's in the garage. Guess my wife planned that out when we bought the house lol.

I keep envisioning a four post lift with an extra runner down the middle. Park a car underneath it. Store six bikes on top.

Brad

Exactly one of the thoughts that got me to putting up pallet racking for motorcycle storage. I use a 4 post lift on the other side of the racking to get bikes up and down. Sized the space on the other side to fit two 4 post lifts to get maximum capacity and space flexibility. Figured 4 post lifts were cheaper than a second floor and more flexible.
