Mount heater on shelf?

Got an 80 lb heater to hang in my garage which is already rocked, limited access to attic area.

I'm wondering if there is a good reason to NOT just span a shelf across the corner where I want the heat and mound the heater on the shelf instead of hanging from ceiling?

Good question. There is generally minimum clearance requirements for all the other sides but not sure about the bottom side. I just mounted one this weekend in my shop project. What type of unit. If it's a Modine they have a great aftermarket bracket system for about 80 bucks that makes hanging them quick.

Unistrut with threaded rods. Ditch the shelf idea.
