Mounting air hose on concrete

Going through the archives I have gotten some good ideas on mounting my 50 foot hose reel, but most are being mounted on wood studs / roof / etc. I have the perfect place for mine and I am thinking it will be stronger.

I want to mount it on the concrete wall to the left of the garage door; there is about 12" from the garage door to the wall, and that would be out of the way, and easy access outdoors.

I haven't used lag screws, but that seems the way to go, direct onto the cement wall. I haven't seen anyone using toggle bolts. Also read about using a unistrut, but HD doesn't stock that.

Any suggestions on how to install my reel? I would prefer not to mount to the roof.

some tapcon's mounting a wooden mounting plate onto the concrete and then you can mount the reel to that....or just tapcon's into the concrete holding the reel on. Make sure you use the right size drill bit for the tapcon. It is listed on the box the screws come in.

I used the tapcons for the salt walls you see in the picture. We must be talking about some much larger screws or they are stronger than I imagine / or look. lol.

What do you guys think 1/2" (might be over kill, that sucker is long) or ?

On a side note, I noticed as I was doing the slat wall install last night, that even though I was using the correct drill bit, when I went to screw in the bolt it reach a point it would go no more, so I had to redrill every hole. Could it be the concrete dust just not letting the screw go in? I am going to blow out the holes when I drill tonight.

If you aren't convinced with the tapcons you can get Redhead drop in anchors and use bolts to bolt it to the floor.

I would go this way IE the bolded statement. Tapcons come in large sizes etc but they can loosen with the constant pulling in different directions and it would **** to have the hose reel come off the wall at a bad time ie just when you snapped the line to reel it back in. Use some pressure treated wood with adhesive made for moist / wet concrete on the tapcons and on the back of the board and attach it that way. If you make the piece long enough you can attach and electric reel and or a light reel to the same board all in a row. Just my opinon.

Tapcons hi/lo thread screws **** for something that gets as much racking around as an air reel does....... Use the sleeve anchors in the pic...in a 3/8 in. x 2.5 in. long size... as long as it is solid concrete you are anchoring to. ...

Your wall looks so bumpy as others said above, mount a 2 x 8 wood block with 3-3.5 in. long sleeve anchors then lag bolt your reel bracket to the block. I put my air reel on my garage ceiling using a 2 x 10 block lag screwed to the ceiling joists then short lagged screwed my reel to the block.

Sleeve anchors..... are GOOOOOOD. Make sure what your anchoring them in to is solid though, and not hollow core. Be sure to allow enough bolt thread sticking out passed the wood block to get your washer/nut on.
