I snagged 3 of the 30" Gladiator wall mounts yesterday. I am putting them onto concrete block. My plan is to horizontally mount 2 2x4's on the wall using TapCons and then use lag screws with fender washers to mount the cabinets to the 2x4's.

Anyway they are sitting in my dining room right now and I was just checking with the forum to see if this sounded like a good plan.

Sounds like a good plan to me! You might also want to drill holes so that you can bolt the cabinets together as one big assembly, which will keep them nice and uniform and perhaps even make them a bit more sturdier.

I actually mounted my Galdiator cabinets directly to my finished (drywall) walls. I just drilled holes in the back of the cabinets to make sure my lag screws lined up with the 2X4 studs.

Just curious- why the 2x4's? Wont that space them out from wall 1 1/2"?
Why not mount them directly to the block w/ the tapcons?

Actually I am putting them over a bench and that 1.5" out from the wall will help to reach into them considering my height/length of arms.

You might want to use the Gladiator Gear Trak for mounting your wall cabinet,
It lends lots of flexibility. You can get by with a just a top and bottom strip.
If have mounted them directly to the wall and also used the Gear Trak.
The cabinets in this photo including the tall unit are mounted on Gear Trak.

i had those mounted on my slump block wall in my old house & all i did was mount the track per the instructions (from the track package) & then mounted the cabinets to the track. overall it was pretty easy, it helps to have someone help hold things... & check for reachability.

hope this helps! good luck!!

I agree! When I first mounted mine in my last house, I used the gear channel and the supplied brackets. The stayed in place fine, but I did not care for the gap behind the cabinet. I then removed the tracks and bolted them directly to the wall which looked much cleaner in my opinion.
