mounting meter base

Ive just picked up meter base from power company and it is too narrow to attach to 16 oc studs. I planned on mounting back to back with flush mount 200 amp panel. To do this I would have to use nuts and bolts to mount base to wall as there is no room to add nailer behind panel. Does anyone see an issue with installing this way rather than screwing into studs?

You can probably just screw to the sheathing assuming you are using a 2" rigid pipe ****** and lock nuts to link the base to the panel. that connection and 4 screws into the sheating should be rock solid.

This is exactly what I did, it's solid.

I just did one, it's just screwed into the sheating with lag bolts. Then I used a short pipe ****** with nuts, lined up the knockouts and put the breaker panel on the other side of the sheathing and lang bolted that into the wall studs.

Is this an overhead or underground? Is the cavity behind the meter socket accessible to add cleats between the studs so the load/pressure is transferred to structural member? I have also seen 3/4" plywood surface mounted all covered with coil stock then the normal J and vinyl siding around the plywood. It's an option.
