Mouse In my truck

Found evidence of a mouse in the backseat of my truck today.
It's my own fault, the truck isn't my daily driver and I only use it for camping and Home Depot runs.
The kids left goldfish crackers in the backseat and since I can't get the truck in garage I haven't vacuumed it in about a month.
Luckily the damage was limited to a hole in the kids car seat and a rag under the seat.
There was no evidence of a nest just chewed cloth.

I thoroughly vacuumed the truck and put mouse traps in the back seat.
Tomorrow I'm going to pick up some dryer sheets.
Anything else I should do to keep the nice out?

I'm only leaving the traps for a day or two to catch anyone still in the truck,
I do the same with my camper, once a month I set traps for a weekend to catch anything that may have moved in,
Only got something once

Find a product called Fresh Cab http://www.earthkind.com/products/featured-fresh-cab-rodent-repellent. Used by Farmers in my area in equipment that doesn't get much use. I use it in my camper and it seems to work.

Find out how the critter is getting in the cab and close the hole(s). Otherwise, cleaning up after mice may become your new hobby.

I leave sticky traps around all the tires. It's the only place they can climb up to the vehicle. Doesn't really help once they are already in there though. Also I want to second FreshCab.we use it on tractors and combines at work in combination with the above.

The cat idea is BAD, had one get in my wife's cadillac, very expensive fix.

Answer: my wife unloaded groceries then closed vehicle up without looking.

Dryer sheets work for me for storage

I know a kid who's specialty is rodent removal. 100% success rate, but you may need to do some "minor' interior work afterwards .

I had mice get in my dually a few years ago. They didnt really do any damage inside but under the hood was a different story. I even started driving it every other day and it didnt help. I ended up with 15+ hours of fixing chewed up wiring, fuel pressure regulator, battery cable, 3 air filters, ate all insulation all firewall and 2 sets of hoses. In the end I put rat poison in my airbox and left it, put poison in several other spots under the hood and a rat trap (that a mouse ran off with it). After several days of the poison getting ate each night it started slowing down and then finally stopped. It was a nightmare.

I can't think how a mouse would get in the truck, but on Saturday I took the truck to an auction sale and Sunday noticed the mouse activity.
I'm starting the think the mouse either came in something I bought at the auction or from the field I parked next to.
No mouse evidence in my camper, garage or my enclosed trailer where I have one of my collector cars parked for the winter. So the auction seems like the source.

I use a raisin and force it under the trigger of the trap. It makes me work for that'last meal'! I have had great luck using the raisin. Better than peanut butter...a Snickers....or other treats.

Peppermint extract. We use it in parked camper,garage ect. Proof for me is we sprinkle a tiny amount in a mobile we have rented out in a hay field. If anyone can find mouse droppings it's a renter. No more mice!
We get ours from a health food type store. Smells not to bad also.

I get mine with mini marshmallows. I sprinkle some around the spring trap (gets them accustomed to the trap) and take a paper clip and secure a marshmallow to the trigger plate.. He has to tug it off and WHAM...Doesn't know what hit him
BTW marshmallows are bad for you..Especially if you grab one off of a rat trap

we do have something similar in canada , cant think of whats it called tho , ask at a rv dealership .

we had decent success with ultrasonic mouse deterrents / dryer sheets / pungent bars of soap .

I have had mixed results using it in our farm equipment. If it a vehicle or piece of machinery with no previous or minimal mouse exposure it seems to do the trick. If said vehicle has had mice in it for any length of time, the success rate went down and they still would go back in at times. I still use it, but it's not a guarantee in my experience.

I had a rusty truck and a mouse went in a rust hole at night and ate crackers and some gum that was in the door pocket. It happened a few times. I filled the rust hole with great stuff foam and never had a mouse in there again.
