Reading on the web, looks like I will have to plug any gaps that are 1/4" wide or larger.

Peeps have been using sprayfoam, steel wool, copper wool etc to fill the gaps.

Plugging all the holes is a good start but there still gonna get in the shed. What I use is a product made by protecta they are black plastic boxes with holes and you put bait blocks inside on metal rods.
The rats go eat the bait then go off and die. I never find them in the boxes. I have to re-bait them like once a year. The bait is called contrac blox. I had rats everywhere in my shop. I have not seen a live rat in 2 years and never find them dead in the shop, they must go back in the desert and die.

It may be too late now but I like to wrap my sheds in Tyvek prior to siding them. The Tyvek works very well at keeping out bugs and critters besides weatherproofing it IMHO.

I like the mouse-pool.

How did the bike run? :)

The bike ran Very poorly. Throttle was stuck closed for the 1st bit due to being glued shut with the pee that had dripped through my K&N filter.

Wouldn't idle, and could barely drive it 200' from the back of the yard to the garage.

Working on getting the throttle butterflies clean. Probably have to use a toothbrush and 'air system cleaner'.

I don't know that spray foam alone will stop them, they can chew right through that. Use a backing of wire mesh, strips of wood, etc. to plug the gaps first.

Awwwwwwwwwww...............it's really nice of you to go to so much trouble to provide a safe snuggely home for our forest creatures for the winter. Don't forget to give them plenty of water and material for nest building so they can bring up their young in comfort!

FYI you cannot keep them out. recently had a critter in the glove box of my car (newer car no rust holes) all you can do is make it difficut for them and trap or kill if they get inside.

I have been feeding a stray cat for about 2 years . She has a food and water bowl in the garage as well as a bed to sleep on and a cat door to go in and out through. I have not seen a " LIVE" mouse since she has been here and I used to see them all the time.

Cool mouse pool.

But yea, a cat can take care of business. Had mice at the warehouse. LOTS of them. Found a baby cat on the street. Took him in. The only time I would see mice is when he would bring them to me as trophies.

Mouse proofing is like idiot proofing... there's no such thing.
Best you can hope for is mouse or idiot resistant.

A cat or a wolverine is probably the most reliable solution.
Poison works pretty well too if you can put it in the right places.

I used to have a bunch of mice and rats in my barn. I set out a bunch of those little poison chew blocks along the top of the foundation and haven't seen one all winter.

My buddy has a couple of barn cats. No mice. No raccoons. No opossums. No skunks. No squirrels (in the barn). And the cats don't bother the horses.

Go with the mothballs as long as you don't mind the smell. It works really well.

I've got an electronic rat trap that I put in my garage. I bait it with peanut butter (one spoonful will last 15-20 mice). I've got a new dead mouse in the trap 1-2 times a week. Takes 4 C or D cell batteries that are meant to last for 40+ rats (who knows how many mice...).

HI FROM NEW ZEALAND.

IS YOUR PLACE LIKE THIS?.... OUR CUZZIES IN OZ DOES.

IF SO?, TRY AND ELIMINATE PAPER,SACKS,CLOTHING FROM BILDING OR HANG THEM HIGH, ELIMINATE ALL POTENTIAL FOOD ETC.

GO TO A FARM SUPPLIER / FARM GRAIN STORE AND ASK FOR A PAIL OF RAT / MICE BAIT CALLED .... "TALON"...MADE BY ICI OR SYNGENTA CHEMICALS,
"RUNCUMEN" A TEABAG TYPE PASTE ...MADE BY BAYER OF
GERMANY.

PLEASE GOOGLE "TALON","RUNCUMEN",STORM" INC RATBAIT UP SO TO SEE IF MAKERS HAVENT CHANGED TRADENAMES.

INSIDE THE SHED AGAINST THE FLOOR,....LEAN SOME PLANKS AGAINST WALL BUT ON FLOOR TO MAKE A TUNNEL (RATS AND MICE FEAL SUCURE FROM PREDATORS WHILST EATING.) TACK SOME RUNCUMEN TO BOARD PRIOR TO PLACING, OR PLACE TALON ON GROUND,..NOTE; PLACE POISON 6 INCH APART ALONG LENGTH OF PLANK /WALL....MAKING SURE YOU TAKE NOTE OF THE NUMBER OF BAIT PLACED.

DO ALL THE ABOVE OUTSIDE THE WALL TOO AND AROUND TREES ETC NEAR THE BILDING... I CALL THESE "BAIT STATIONS" AND HAVE THEM PLACED 3 YARDS APART ALL AROUND BASE OF WALLS.
DON T WORRY ABOUT MEZZININE FLOOR / LOFT ETC AS U ARE BAITING THE "BORDER".

AFTER BAITING GO BACK EVRY 2 DAYS AND WITH NOTE PAD WITH NUMBERS OF BAIT PLACED ....JUST TICK OFF OR ADJUST NUMBERS, THIS WILL TELL WHAT ACTIVITY THERE IS.

REPLENISH POISON EVRY 3 DAYS.

ANOTHER RULE TO THIS.....MAKE SURE THERE IS NO WATER FOR PESTS TO DRINK SO POISON CAN ACT.

THE CATS WILL NOT EAT THE POISONED MICE.

CHEERS CARL
