I'm moving into a house with a 3 car tandem garage and I'd like to take the tandem part of the larger bay and turn it into a workshop where I can work on the bikes and store my tools, tool benches etc. But becuse I plan to heat in winter and A/C in summer, I'd like to make some type of sliding wall or something where I can have easy access to get in for working, but also where I can move it aside to move my motorcycles in out etc. Any idea?

What about something like the large plastic flaps that you can just push through? Like some beer distributors have?

You could also probably make 3 panels on rolling tracks, but that may not seal well.

Barn door. I need a 40~48" door way to move engines and such between my "clean" work space and the "dirty" parking/ work area. I decided to make a 48" pocket door using barn door hardware. You can hang a pretty heavy door on this stuff. The tracks come in 8' pieces, so you can make it pretty long too.

I've been pondering the same project. I have a 16 ft wide opening from the two car garage bay to the third bay in my garage with 10ft ceilings throughout. My current idea is to put a 9x7 or 9x10 sized overhead door between the bays with the opening walled in with a 36 inch walk through door. This should allow to isolate the bays for heat and a/c, but still be able to open it up when the weather is nice. Keeping an eye on CL for a cheap door and waiting for warmer weather for the garage build season.

Yep! This works well, but it doesn't even have to be a pocket door. Hardware for sliding barn doors is readily available (usually made by National) at nearly any lumber yard. Design the door so that it overlaps a wall facing board at the top and both sides. Then when the door is closed you can get a pretty good wood-to-wood seal. You can build the door in any size you wish.

I did this when I built a wall between my wood shop and metal shop areas. Door is 4' wide and slides completely out of the door opening when full open. You have the freedom to design and build the door nearly any way you wish ... fancy, simple, whatever. I put a window in the upper portion of mine to keep both work areas a little lighter.
