We moved 50+ miles from home last fall. I still have a barn full of items to move this summer and one item is a 4-post hoist. Has anyone moved their 4-post and what method did you use to move it? I know it can be disassembled but I’d like to move it assembled if possible. I will break it down as a last resort. Thanks in advance for your reply.

Yep you get a 18 foot car trailer lift the ramps up and slide the trailer under it. Lower the ramps down onto the trailer. Then use a come along to pull the legs up and ratchet strap them up off the ground secure it to the trailer and away you go.

Somewhere years ago, I saw that was how a dealer delivered them.

I paid some pros to move mine from a shop I bought it from used and install it in the garage. Now if I need to move it I just put the rollers on it and scoot it around the garage :)

I'd rather take it apart then risk something being damaged as it's being jolted around in transit with the posts still in place.

That's why you strap things down so they don't get damaged.... It's really a simple way to do it. Mine was done this way and driven 65 miles without any problems.

A lot of people don't do that and let the posts wobble around unsupported.
They're not that hard to take apart or reassemble. Unless you already have the resources or know someone to call how knows how to properly move it figuring it all out and getting it done takes time too. But hey however is easiest for whoever is moving it.

I have an 18’ open car trailer so I’ll be looking into this. Thanks.

A few years back the neighbor across the road from our house sold his and the new owner moved it like this pic shows. I got home just in time to see them drive away. If I didn’t know better I would have thought this was a pic of my trailer. But missing the Chrysler wheel covers.

I just ended up disassembling mine; by the time I could figure out how to move it whole, might as well just disassemble.

Have you confirmed it will pass trough your garage door while fully assembled.

I guess you said barn...so probably not an issue. I know mine would need to come apart when I move.
I have slider doors on one end of the barn that’s more than tall and wide enough.
