Moving a 4 post lift? Without caster kit.

Would this be as simple as jacking up each side and putting a dolly under each post or jacking up and putting a dolly under just the crossbeams?

Since my caster kit is on back order, I was thinking this might be the way to go in case I need to move it but then again it could be a long term solution also.

Why bother with a caster kit if you aren't moving lift and car together (which isn't recommended in the first place. Some cheap dollies should work? I feel like I'm missing something in this whole equation.

Four 1,000 pound movers dollies from harbor Freight come out to less than $40 vs BendPak's 260 for the caster kit ...

if you can get a dolly under each cross beam, and you have another person to help you (keep it balanced), I think you should be able to move the lift.

...... the caster kit, One man operation and worth the quality and value. Wait for it to come in. Heavy duty compared to any harbor freight moving dollies.

Also,If you jack up the cross beams they will need to be "locked in" before you can lift them.

The caster kits doesn't go under the posts. It uses leverage from the platform to lift the posts off the floor. It is very stable this way and just putting dollies under the posts would not be recommended since it wouldn't keep the posts secured.

Turned mine into a scaffolding to install the ceiling. Pushed it all over. Seemed to be wobbly, but after I got used to it, it was actually quite stable. The wiggle was only an inch or two.

I have a Bendpack dollie kit, but with that being said I believe you could use car dollies in each corner under the cross pieces to move it, lowering the cross piece with the car dollie under it might lift the post, worth a try, I also like the idea of the lunch trays!

Nice idea for the scaffolding!

I know this is an old post but thought it better than starting a new one.

I plan on getting the caster kit and was wondering, has anyone tried moving an assembled 4 post onto a slideback wrecker or equipment trailer on the casters? I

I just realized it would probably too wide to transport this way without oversize permit or something.

It will probably be too wide for transporting while assembled.

For moving, I like the "trays" idea.

Agree. Good idea on the scaffold. I just moved mine from one garage to my house assembled. I used a flatbed tow truck. Worked fine, but make sure you ask as the price can vary.

Even if it fits on a transport you'll need to make sure your lift post are shorter than your garage door opening. I can move mine around in the garage but can't roll it outside due to my lift height.
