Anyone got any ideas on how to move a Compact70 dehumidifier into place inside of a crawlspace? A dolly from harbor freight? 1/2” plywood laid down and roll it? Let me know what ya got?

shore house has a crawspace, I put the smallest size dehumidifier in there since the area is small. Was able to just move it around on the sand into position.

I do have ductwork in there. That sled is a great idea. I’m going to order it on prime. My little one will have something for the winter too!

My crawlspace is almost tall enough to sit-up and I didnt have any issues just picking it up and moving it where I wanted it. I tried to keep it upright so the oil wouldnt do anything weird in the compressor. If it was a small mansion under there and youre wanting it in the far corner, I say the sled idea sounds like a winner.

I must say, I love having a dehumidifier in the crawl space. My house is old so it isnt sealed up the best, but the humidity stays right around 50% year round now. I have good plastic under there, but its not sealed to the block. During the spring and fall when the A/C isnt running but its raining outside, my indoor humidity would creep up near 60%, which I imagine even a tight house would do. Any house I have with a crawlspace or basement will have a dehumidifier from now on. Same with my garage, I try to keep it in the 50% range.

For heavier items I laid a strip of plywood on the ground as a path. I then rolled a dolly on the path to where needed. For just one load you can use two pieces of plywood. Roll across one, onto the next, pick up the first and put it in front, roll on to it, repeat. Also works for rolling tool boxes across the lawn.

When I installed a dehumidifier in my crawl space, that is barely tall enough to crawl on hands and knees, I pushed and pulled it on a piece of cardboard. The corners would poke through my moister barrier if I didn’t use something. To I taped up a piece of cardboard around the bottom so it didn’t slide out as I was moving it. The blocks I set it on I kind of just belly crawled and moved them an arm’s length at a time.
