while relocating a light switch, with the power off i located and cut what i thought was the wire i wanted, wrong,,,,,, now just short of removing the drywall is the any way of telling where this wire goes to down in the wall, i had planned on just leaving the cut off part in the wall so i cut it short close to the stud - no way to reconnect it NOW, should i just remove the drywall and go from there, there were 2 switches one i was moving and the other on the the other side of the wall( they were back to back), is there a meter or something i can put in the short wire to tell where it goes, i really don't want to open the drywall!

I would turn the power back on and find out what no longer has power going to it. That will be the easiest way of finding what that wire is connected to. It has to be connected to something unless it is an old wire that had previously been abandoned.
