I'm thinking about removing and storing for the winter one of the MaxJax posts that is in my garage.

I installed the MaxJax in the summer of 2011, and had to pour two 3'x3'x1' piers in my garage floor as my floor didn't meet the specified thickness.

Both posts have been in place since, and I generally use it 5-10x/yr on our vehicles.

---

The MaxJax is installed in the center bay of our 3 bay garage. I would like to put my wifes' daily q7 there, as it's current winter location in the bay by the man door is a pain to get around, as it takes up so much space.

For the q7 to fit in the center bay, I would have to remove and store the driverside post. I have enough hose that I can probably move it out of the way without disconnecting the hose and rebleeding. It is a tight squeeze when I put the q7 on the lift. I can barely get out of the driverside door with it in position.

My main concern is I used the wedge anchors that came with the kit, and they have held fine for the past 8 years... Do I really want to disturb them? Will the bolts have rusted to the anchors and cause the anchors to spin if I try to loosen them?

Winter tires go on in the next few weeks, and then I doubt I will use the lift much in the winter. My garage is not insulated or heated and not the nicest place to spend time in during the winter months.

Pic of our old q7 (Audi bought it back under dieselgate) on MaxJax. We got a white 2015 q7 now with a the dieselgate fix for a couple thousand more than the tradein on our 2011 brown one....

Might be a dumb question, but can you just clear out in front of it and pull the car all the way the wall? It looks like if you did that you would be able to get out of the drivers side no problem. Might make getting something out the rear difficult. But if it works it will save you from having to remove it. It will also keep your lift operational during the winter time. As we all know the second you say you wont need it, you need it.

Possibly... I have 2 tool chests in the front of that bay.... I could move them to the aisle between the middle bay and the far bay....

Looks like GJ shrinks the pic to a manageable size (from my google account)

This is how I use my Maxjax. I have one post I always leave in place and I roll the other in place and bolt it down when I need it. I use ratchet straps to store the unmounted post against the always mounted one so it can't topple over.

This way the garage is generally accessible and not blocked by two posts. When I need to use the lift it is half the work to setup than installing both. I haven't had problems with air in lines but bleeding is pretty easy to do if you want to check.

I put M16x2mm (you might be 5/8"-11 UNC), set screws into the thread sockets to keep dirt and dust out with some anti seize on them. Due to the anti seize I haven't had any problem with anchors spinning.

Sounds like you need a garage heater more than anything!

My bolts on the driver side post were not seized after 8 yrs.

4 were tight, one was finger loose, and one had a bit of rust on it.

I have put a smidge of antiseize on them and retightned them up to about 75ftlbs...

I had to disconnect the hose to reach one bolt. Will see if that introduces air in the line or not...
