So to make a long story short I took a job that is going to put me in a much better situation financially but....... all my tools and equipment cant come with me. I already have my work box sold to a co-worker but am looking at opinions on what I should do with all my mobile/home equipment, as well as maybe an estimate at what would be a reasonable price for all of it. I still have a while before I move and of course would really like to be able to sell it all as a lot but if that doesn't work I may resort to parting out the individual sets and pieces. While it is not a ton of Snap-on, Mac, or Matco tools there is some good quality tools. I tried to include as many pics so you have an idea of what all is there.

Best of luck. However, selling your tools as a lot will bring the lowest dollar amount, and the buyer will probably flip it for a profit. Selling the sets individually will be the best way to maximize profit.

DONT do it,
I was in the same situation 6 years ago, I dont know what you do but Im a shade tree tinkerer, I sold alot of my tools and kept some, when we moved to Canada I only had to buy again what I had sold. From the look of it I would sell the cabinet, sell the sockets and wrenches that you dont really need or use but I would take or keep all the smalls. If you are taking furniture you will be getting a container and they are priced on size not weight, if you are taking just cloths and sentimental things (like us) then either find a cheap shipping company and send them sea or when family/friends come visit have them bring some stuff each.

i would say no to selling but without knowing where you are going or doing we have no idea.

will you have a car? a home? an apartment? furnished housing?

are you moving to a warm place, cold place island?

It's all good you are going to be in a better situation financially, because you'll need to be when you come back and buy new a few years down the road.

Used tools sell for chump change, which is why I now have way too many; but new is unobtanium. I'm always gobsmacked at the retail pricing when I wander down the tool aisle at any store or infrequently get on a tool truck. I could never cost-justify buying new today a fraction of what I've picked up used over the years.

camd64 take it from a 20 year vet "DO NOT SALE YOUR TOOLS", I traveled the world and didn't realize that tools will cost a hell of a LOT more then storing them in a storage unit for the times I couldn't keep them or take them with me. PUT THEM IN STORAGE. rngr1

Its a lot cheaper to send the tools to wherever you are moving in the world than you think.

You can move it by pallet/boat for a couple hundred dollars. Or sell the box, and everything inside you can send by air.

I hear what most are saying but this move is something I had already looked into a while ago and have been trying for the last couple years. The company supplies us with all the tools I would ever need and it isnt just a bunch of used lowest bid junk. Besides even if it doesnt work out one of my best friends has owned a shop for the last 20 years. Im pretty much heading out with just a few suitcases. Im already getting some help from one of my new-to-be coworkers on getting an apartment and all that bs. Where I will be it is pretty much impossible to get a garage.

You could easily get a couple hundred ($300-400?) for the whole lot.

I'd find a way to keep it if you plan to return within 10 years.

If you put it in commercial storage, make sure you keep paying the bills as you would not like to see it on "Storage Wars" a year from now. I had a friend who lost a lot of special furniture because of this. Her moves got the mail messed up and missed enough payments for everything to be gone....

I personally would not take less than $500 if I had to sell. I could not see what brand the wrenches were if they are Matco, or Mac they should be able to get around $300 on ebay even with low ball bids if sold in individual sets. If they are gearwrench probably not going to get much. You can buy Gear wrench cheap new if you catch the right sale going on.
I wouldn't take less than $100 for the pliers seems like you got some Proto locking pliers and Channellocks. I can't tell what brands the other are. Tool lot 8 I would think would bring around another $100 at least looks like a Nupula Hammer, Craftsman Prybar some more Channellocks and looks like a Lisle Impact Screwdriver. I think you got at least $200 in sockets depending on the brands. I just figured 25 a set most would sell on ebay at that price. Selling as a lot will bring alot less money.
If possible I would just get a tote throw all the tools in it and store them somehow if you think you will ever need them again. If you had to buy new it would cost a fortune, if you buy used it will take forever to hunt down the deals.

That's a very well thought out and well put together set of tools that obviously took some time and evolution of experience to form. It would take forever and a lot of cash to rebuild a new set like it from scratch and would bring you only peanuts if sold it as a unit.

I agree with the others in trying to store them. Wouldn't cost much and who knows, the new life and job could go sideways on you. If after a year of storage, you seem to be set in your new life, at least you have good pictures and you could sell them then. Better than seller's remorse if things go south on you.

I buy up tool sets and part them out for fun and profit. Sadly I'm with ducksface on this. You will be lucky to get $200 if advertised as a set. I'm betting it will sit for a while. Looks like some decent stuff. Part it out and you might get $400 or so. Unfortunately if it doesn't say Snap-On, MAC, or MATCO resale is pitiful.

Depending on where you are going buying tools oversees can be expensive. Looks like it will fit in a checked bag. Might be worth paying for an extra bag, even if it sits in a closet for a few years.

I have bought and sold a fair amount of tools, I looked at your pictures and I add up about $750 worth. As a lot, they should bring about half that. I sure wouldn't store them, it would cost you $20 or more a month, wouldn't be too long before you're into storage more than replacement cost.

Sell them off in smaller lots, and use the money to rebuy when you have a need. I don't see anything you have that's a real hard to get or rare item; but I would keep a basic tool kit of screwdrivers and pliers and maybe a few other common items; it's handy to have some tools.

My next door neighbor moved back to the us after a few yrs in Germany. Ex military, he got rid of his tools before he went.
He's crying over his losses now.
Big mistake.

When I pulled up stakes many times in my younger days always a skeleton crew of multiple use tools mixed into the **** I dragged around. The most useful basics.

I never regret letting the bulky **** go plus the boxes if I used them then. Sell and replenish to meet new needs later on. It's just stuff after all and can be replaced easily enough.

I tried storing with a family member at his place one time. It became long distance drama and I told him to sell and we moved on to better after that.
For me easier to lighten the load on the mind and just not have to worry over **** well out of reach.

I used to have double the tools I currently have. I have about 1/3 if generous as modern users. The rest are antique.
Of the users maybe half are used to make money and maintenance of the home. When chosen with experience few tools can do a lot of tasks. Each has his talents to help chose those selected tools.
