Moving sump pump outlet

I moved into my house in 2020... within a couple of days of moving in we got a bad rainstorm and I discovered a leak around the sump pump discharge pipe. Having a million things to do, I patched it with jb weld, and all was well, until now. This time I have a slow leak, so it's time to fix it again.

The electrical for the sump pump is right next to the pipe. It's seeing some water, so I want to move it up a few inches.

After some quick research code states that there needs to be one outlet (I have two pumps, and they are both plugged into the in one in outlet) and it needs to be no more than 36 inches from the pump. It is currently a out 42 inches from the pump.

I want to move it up a put 6 inches so it stays dry, and replace the single outlet with two, so I do t need the splitter.

I plan to sell this house in a couple of years and don't want issues with a house inspector trying to justify his own existence by nitpicking everything. If it wasn't for that i would just do it and not create this thread.

Thoughts on how to proceed? Am in I overthinking this?

Is there a chance your house is older than the Code rule? Who's to say when the sump pump receptacle was installed? Is the pump manufacturer mistakenly giving you more than 36" of cord???

Move the receptacle and don't worry about it... Jmho.

House was built in 1993. I'm sure the outlet is original.

I'm not sure which code I found online. Current NEC here is 2017, but obviously what applies to this house is whatever they had adopted in 1993.

Just move it up and be done with it. There is no 3' requirement that I am aware of, every single sump pump receptacle I have ever installed was 44" above the floor. Now, it is supposed to be GFCI protected but there is no way I would have it. If you're concerned about that failing a home inspection report, change it out the day before the inspection and pray that there is no rain until you can get the standard receptacle back in as soon as the home inspector leaves.

I Googled NEC sump pump location requirements and found where it says the outlet needs to be within 3' of the pump, but that appears to be 1304.18 of the local ordinances of Richmond Heights, OH.
