Moving threads out of wrong forums?

Hello, Moderators,

My question is, do you ever move threads out of forums that they really don't belong in? Right now, somebody started a thread in General Garage Discussion: "Official Beer Thread". Shouldn't this be in Free Parking?
There are lots of examples, but I think it would be a cleaner site if General Garage Discussion, etc, only contained garage related threads.

Thanks, Brad

We do, yes. But with so many new threads each and every day, it is easy to get way, way behind.

beer is a ncessary comsumable and therefore belongs in the tool thread, no?..............

I was thinking "Free Parking" where many necessary consumable things are talked about :)

We do, yes. But with so many new threads each and every day, it is easy to get way, way behind.

Bull, do you welcome PM'd suggestions from folks about threads that might be moved? Or would you rather I **** it up & keep it to myself?

I vote the 2 beer threads be moved...there, I feel better. Thanks for listening.

I think we need a thread czar to keep all these post in line. They can be in charge of moving them to the proper forum. I'll give Obama a call and see if he has an extra czar lying around.

I moderate on board that's sort of like this one. The most useful thing for me is to have someone use the 'report' button in the lower left of the thread so that an email gets sent to me. It's also nice if that person adds a response to the spam/inappropriate/misplaced thread saying that it's been reported so that fifty other guys don't do the exact same thing and flood my mailbox.

But with something like the beer thread, I understand that guys might not want to leave a public note saying they think the thread should be moved. But the 'report' button works anonymously and effectively.

Bull and the other moderators here might want it done differently. But I thought I'd throw in my two cents.

I don't receive the "report button" messages. But, I am happy to receive PMs, as long as they include a link to the relevant thread so I don't have to waste time searching for it.

bmwpower and Ryan get the messages for the reported threads.
