Where to start...

After college I decided that I was going to buy myself a nice little bachelor pad. 3 bedrooms, 1.5 bath and a 10'x20' garage that was small but large enough to keep a few toys in. Oh, and it was cheap enough that I could afford it on my own and not have to live on sardines and ramen noodles.

Back to the Garage.

As you can see it was a little small but it was big enough to hold the Miata and my Triumph Scrambler. As the years passed the Miata had to start living outside to make room for other toys such as the FSAE car and a few more motorcycles. I'm glad that I have all of my toys but I knew that the time was coming that I would need something bigger.

A few more years passed and things moved on as they have a tendency to do. I ended up in a job where I work from home full time and I found a great girl that understands that my garage projects are not just "things". well, we were married a few months ago and because she isn't able to work from home most days she is stuck making the 100 mile round trip commute to work every day. On a good day she can make it in an hour each way but there have been days that it could easily take 2+ each way if there was traffic or bad weather. A few months before the wedding we started looking for houses and even went to take a look at a few. She was shockingly supportive of my "requirement" that it have a 3+ car garage. She also knew that if we only had 3 garage spaces the chances of her car making the cut were only about 50%. I had been looking every few days and nothing had been coming up in the area that we were looking for until my new wife found a for sale by owner about 2 weeks after we got back from the honeymoon.

I know it will be a while before I officially get my hands on the keys since the closing is set for Feb 28th but our offer has been accepted for the 40'x30' garage. Oh, and something about a house.

From the outside it looks a little funny since it has been added onto a few times but its still more than I was hoping for when we started looking.

I suspect the center section is the original and the other pieces have been added on. She isn't much to look at but solid construction and I could have a clear span if I want to lose the loft area.

The single garage on the right is a full 30' deep with some old shelves. I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to do with this one yet but it may become the workshop area.

The single garage on the left is also 30' deep and currently full of stuff but I'm told that its all leaving when the renters move out. The door you see on the right leads to another storage area.

And here is the storage area. I suspect that it will be a good place for the compressor and spare motorcycles but time will tell.

There will be lots of work to do such as getting rid of the last of the tube and knob wiring and upgrading to something other than the 30A service that it has now but that will come with time and I'm looking forward to the journey. It will be a while before the real work begins but now that I have some room to play I'll be looking for more suggestions and I hope to be able to keep everyone up to speed on the progress.

LOL! I was going to welcome you to the small garage club while looking at the first picture but then I scrolled down. Pffffft! ;) Good luck, there's some real possibilities with that place!

Nice. What did you do with the FSAE car? I have one in my garage as well.
Since it was built mainly for our 85 pound driver my options were to try and extend the driver area or strip out the good parts and build a new chassis once I had the room. Since I was low on space I broke is down and after recycling some of the more questionable aluminum and Ti parts its not exactly costing me anything to keep the rest of it in boxes. Now that I will have some garage space I'm thinking a Miata suspension and tube chassis will be in my future.

Thanks. It will take a while to get everything sorted out but I'm looking forward to it.

Nice project! What part of Wilmington are you in? We're over in Newport area.
The small one car garage house is just off Boxwood road but the new house is up in Collegeville PA. If you know anyone that is looking to rent a house in the area keep me in mind. The DE house should be up for rent around may once we get some things sorted out with the kitchen.

Garage space looks good! The 3 separate areas are going to create a good division between projectas. Car's in one section, bikes in another, tool storage and engine rebuilds in another. Congrats on the purchase! How does the rest of the house look?

I'm looking forward to being able to separate motorcycles from cars from dirty work.

The house has a few peculiarities but the layout is nice and we love the woodwork.

Pics? I've got 2 bare chassis out at the farm. Foam filled carbon fibre monocoque style. Dunno if I have any photos anywhere handy though.

I don't think I have any, it was in rough shape when I brought it home. I really prefer the welder and grinder to the vacuum bag so I'm glad that the CF bodies went to someone that appreciates them.
