Moving Utilities on a new house build?

I did an OPRA request for my development built 30-35 years ago. 120 SF homes done in 3 phases.

The docs were all mailed to everyone involved with input/sign-off for commentary/approval. Just reading all of this minutia back and forth between parties is painful today. (3 file boxes!)

They spent so much time beating to death one non-conforming lot on a cul-de-sac. Finally pushed the house envelope back 20'. Talk about watching paint dry.

Im sure it was even worse then being a party with skin in the game not knowing how long this zoning, epa, wetlands, traffic study, etc. would take or pan out. And money at risk.

I hope it's a little better today with email and shared drives.

If you want a shop then I'd do a stand alone build all day long and twice on Sunday's. I don't know your family size but the attached can be parking for cars, bikes etc. With the separate one in back your only limited by yourself. I built a 24' x 24' x 12' behind my house last year and I'm still kicking myself for waiting so long.

First of all, thank you to everyone taking the time to reply. I really do appreciate all the input. However, we are getting a little deep in the weeds relative to my original question about moving the utilities to allow me to add on to the existing garage.

Today we met with the Construction Manager, and this conversation went way better than I expected.

Again, I am not asking the builder to build anything other than the house and garage as designed in their plans.
What I am asking is if they could move the utilities (during construction) (gas, elec, irrigation, etc) from the outside wall of their 1-car garage so I can hire my own builder to add on additional garage space. This is my first choice. If they cannot/will not, then I will simply have my guy build me a detached garage in the back yard.

The Construction Manager was very understanding of my request. He ultimately agreed that they would be able to move the electric, irrigation, and everything under their control from the side of the 1-car garage to behind this garage. (see original pics in this thread) I was very happy to hear this.

The gas remains an unknown. At this point he was unsure about which side of the house the gas company would place their meter.

If they put it on the opposite side of the house from the garage, then my issue is resolved. I will be able to add on to the existing garage.
If they place their meter on the side of the garage, then he would ask them (before construction begins) if they could place it behind the garage with everything else. He seemed optimistic about this; I am cautiously optimistic.

I hope to hear from him soon about the gas companies' response.

And for the record, so far, everyone we've dealt with from this builder has been great to work with.
