SERVICE REMINDER/HOUR METER
Service reminder shows the total number of hours the engine
has run and flashes to indicate that the engine or mower
needs servicing. When service is required, the service
reminder will flash for two hours.
To service engine and
mower, see the Maintenance section of this manual.

NOTE: Service reminder runs when the ignition key is in any position but "STOP". For accurate reading, be sure
key remains in the "STOP" position when engine is not
running.

or go low tech... at the end of mowing season I run the gas tank dry then change the oil. The mower is ready to go in the spring after adding fresh gas.

With that maintenance schedule I'd be putting two or three engines a year in my mower. Its a near monthly experience for me.

This. For the average homeowner mower, no goofy oil change reminder systems are needed.

yeah it really depends on usage... for average homeowner never changing the oil EVER gets them by surprisingly well

Wow.. a reminder on a mower? Hmm

At the end of the season I flush and scrape the deck, empty the gas and I change the oil every other year. I wonder if these companies are just making things hard..

I service my mower and snow blower at the end of their respective seasons. I drain or treat the fuel and I change the oil regardless of how much use they got each season.

My newer Troy-built mower has a change oil reminder light that is set to every 50 hours. I do it at the regular service intervals and that should keep the mower happy.

My 1966 Iron Horse 2-stroke gets fresh oil every fill.

I worked out the name of the Chinese lawnmower inventor, his name is Mul Ching.

Some of these "service due" indicators can be reset by holding a small magnet on them.

Will look at the manual to see what to do (hope I can find it) and I do change the oil early before running or at the end of season. Just did the tractor and do that each spring as that is used all year long but is to wet to get on the lawn with that.

Hell, my 21" Troy Built self propelled doesn't even have a drain plug. It shows tip it on it's side or siphon it out.
Riding mower is on the wishlist.

I have quite a bit of property, Using a 29 HP New Holland and a mower deck, I still Change the oil every 3 months in the tractor and every season in the mower deck.

The tractor does double duty in the winter as a snow plow, with the front end loader. I bought more equipment than I needed, and it's done well by me for over 15 years

I change in the beginning of the season.. I use one of those hand pump vacuum canisters to do the lawn stuff. Got it from lowes a few years ago and it makes changing the oil a lot less messy.
