the Hose and filter for the bigger LP tanks are $20 or so, something to keep in mind. I got mines at costco with the accessories a couple years ago for $60 iirc

The camo is pretty snazzy though.

I’ve got one of the red ones, I just ordered this one as well. We were without power for about a week after Hurricane Helene and the power went out a few nights ago for a short time. But now it is in the 20s and I was thinking about what if the power were out in the winter for an extended period? An extra propane heater would go a long way - I already keep several extra 20 gal tanks on hand as well as the refillable 1 pounders. One is none, two is one they say.…

Sams Club has the big red 2 bottle / 2 burner model which also has a fan in it that can run off batteries or a plug-in brick. It's typically 149, but goes on sale in the spring.

I have the Mr Heater mini buddy, buddy and big buddy. All work fine, but satisfaction depends on the heat you need for the space you are in. If a larger area, a model with a fan and connected to a 20lb tank is best.

I also have a Milwaukee M18 torpedo that I like and use more since I can heat up a larger area for emergency work purposes in unheated areas. The Ryobi M18 version is only $149.

I have the Mr. Heater tank top heater as well and it is great if you don’t need a fan. Quieter. Good for indoor temporary emergency use as long as the area is not air tight since it does use up oxygen — open a nearby window a little.

I have a Big Buddy and the hose kit. Tried to use the hose kit a couple times and it was problematic. I forget now why.

The internal fan in my Big Buddy died after an hour of use, but otherwise it's been a great source of heat for the garage or when the power went out (before I got the MEP-802A genset). I have about a dozen of the propane bottles that fit inside that I keep in the shed for emergencies. They used to be about $5.50 for a two-pack at walmart.

Would this be safe to use in a garage that's about 360 square feet with 12 foot ceilings? I tried one of those milk whatever heaters and it didn't do anything.

110V electric heater is about 5000 btu. The 9000 btu Mr. Heater is almost twice as strong but if your 360SF is starting out unheated, more BTU is better. The 12’ ceiling doesn’t help. Maybe the 18000 btu model, but a tank top model that is adjustable might be better and the longer run time is convenient.

Maybe add a couple of ceiling fans? Push the heat down.

I added 2 ceiling fans to compliment my 40k btu Mr. Heater propane ceiling mount heater. My shop is 768sqft.
