Hey guys

Been lurking around here for while and reading all up on these mini splits. I have a few questions I’m hoping to get answered.

1) was debating between the 24k or 36k. Have a 30x40 with 10’6” osb ceiling with blown in insulation above it. 2 insulated windows on each side total of 4, one service door and one 16x9’ insulated garage door. Cement pad. The walls are non insulated with just vinyl siding on outside. I’m in Michigan so we don’t get to many super hot days , but would like to just cool it down on the hotter days I am in the barn. Prob would only be few times a wk or so. My priority is to cool it down quicker for the few hrs I’m out there off and on. Pretty sure the 36k is what I seek unless you all think that 24k would be good enough

2) I Have planned about a 50’ run from my box to the outdoor unit and was thinking of #8 AWG with a 35 amp breaker for the box and a 60 amp non fused disconnect. Any issues with the sizes of my wire or amps ? 10awg seems light with a 30 amp

3) For my connection from disconnect to outdoor unit use a 3/4” liquid tight whip ( 8 Awg )

4) Was wondering about the power hookup for the outdoor unit if it’s L 1 and 2 for both hot and then the ground screw, couldn’t find any pics of the 36k btu insides ?

Hopefully I’m on the right track, it will be nice to get some cool air out in the barn, oh yeah I already have a Big Max mr heater for heat in the winter ( works great ) maybe I could run both if needed on real cold days for heat. Thanks

If you want quick recovery, with the non insulated walls, I’d go with the 3t unit.

Yes, L1-L2-Gnd

Around here code calls for 10awg for a 30amp circuit. 50ft is not long enough to require larger gauge.

Thanks, thinking I will go the 10-2, 30 amp route. Since it calls for 25-35. Sounds like 30 should be fine.

I am wondering what the peak start up loads are ?
