I have in insulated tool room in my garage approx 300 sq feet where my dogs stay and I am looking at a 30000 btu mr heater ventless propane wall heater to heat it. As of now the room will stay around 35 or so by itself. If i were to install the mr heater and keep it on the lowest setting how long could I expect a 20 lb propane cylinder to last? I know a guy similar setup slightly smaller room he claims at least 2 weeks i think that sound kinda long.

Not sure which heater you have as I cannot find a heater that has a lower output setting but on face value total runtime is approximately 14 hours. Now if the thermostat runs correctly and say it runs 10 minutes every hour every day to maintain your desired temperature it should last about 35 days. It also depends on outside temp and r value of the insulation in the building. The colder it is outside and the higher the desired temp inside will shorten duration of the the tank of propane. That’s using rounded numbers. Your results may vary.

A 20lb cylinder can only produce 24,000 btu's at 60 deg outside. so either way you are starving the system. at 30 deg out side you will produce 15,700 btu's

I recommend using no smaller then a 100# tank ( 23gallon) you can pick up exchange cylinders cheap and fill them at any pumping station @30 deg outside the 100# tank will produce 54,400 btu's

A 10k btu heater is to big for 300 sq ft. You want to heat it, not melt it. Step one is to pick a good CO detector.
