Mr Heater 45k lp reg ???

I know this has been asked before but I can find the exact answer. I am in the middle of a mr heater 45 k lp instrall and need to know if I need a regulator at the tank. Not sure yet what tank size yet but I think I will be getting a 100# tank at lowes. I was thinking about two 40 # like a camper setup. I know the reg at heater is setup for 10" wc but need some answers

Depends on the distance between the heater and your propane source. You can either use a "twin stage" regulator which drops the pressure from the bottle immediately to 11" water column, or you can use a high pressure regulator followed by a low pressure regulator at the building entrance.

Most people tend to use a twin stage regulator for a propane bottle located next to a building.

I installed a 60,000 BTU Reznor in my shop that I'm running off a 40lb. LP tank (for now) and use a single stage Mr. Heater regulator at the tank. Seems to work fine so far.

I have a 45,000 BTU heater off of a 120 propane tank. The place that supplies the tank, the regulator is already on the tank. Any larger then I would need a seperate regulator. So why no look into a 120 instead of two 40's?
