Just finished installing the 75000 BTU Big Maxx. The coils inside the unit are glowing red - is that normal for this heater?

Junkman said:When it is real cold out, you will get a lower pressure reading than when it is warm. If it was a one time event, then it might just have been the protective oil burning off the tubes. I wouldn't be concerned. Does the fan cycle on and off properly?

newgarage said:I recently installed a 45K BTU Nat. Gas Mr. Heater Big Maxx and had the same issue. The center heat exchanger tube at the first 180 degree bend following the burner glowed bright red during the initial firing. Subsequently there is is still a red glow at that point but much less intense. The unit has been in use for 5 days now. The aluminized coating on the steel tubing has broken down at that hotspot and flaked off and blistered on the tube. I have left a couple of messages with their tech. services number but have not received a response. They have an online contact form at their website but I was unable to get it to work.![]()
