It's been a long time of hooking things up, getting the propane supply hooked up, getting the right regulators, and paying a bunch of money for the propane line installation, but today I got the first run of my Big Maxx heater from Mr. Heater.

Christmas Eve, and the guys from the propane company came today and hooked up the tank to the lines in the barn. (All inspected, all right with the "county inspector" and all lines held pressure for a week).

I got the heaters from Northern Tool.

So, I have a space that is 24x40x12 for one heater, and I got one of the 80,000btu heaters in that space, and had it hooked up to my propane source. I have three of the heaters total, and two are in the main large garage, but only one is in my critical workshop space.

The heaters are great on Day 1. The one in my workshop heats the workshop quickly and works as advertised.

The other two are in the large storage / garage area and they work perfectly but I have not had them on for more than a few minutes.

On Day 1, the heaters worked great and I'm very happy.

I'll have more details to come, but just wanted to share that I'm very happy to have heat in my workshop.

Good job. Nothing like working in a heated garage. The work goes much better, and we tend to geta lot more of it done.

The unit in the 24x40 space....is it quiet, loud, inbetween? what does it bring your temps to?

I would say that it's not overly loud. Yes, there is fan noise, but mostly like if you had a box fan running on high speed. It isn't a problem to me.

Also, that thing will heat up the space to whatever I set it at, in about 20 minutes. It really does a great job. And, even if it doesn't heat the entire area up to temp, the warm air blowing around is really nice and I'm not complaining.

I'm pleased.

FWIW I had a 45k in my old house and have a 75k in my new house. The 75k is much quieter than the 45k. Either is acceptable for me.

Sorry about that! I meant to upload pictures but forgot. Thanks for the reminder!

Mr. Heater Big Maxx 80,000 BTU heaters installed using Uni-Strut and all-thread for the hangers. I did the hanging and electrician work, and the local HVAC guys came and did the propane installation.

I'm wondering if the exhaust pipes should have been sealed with silicone tape or something. I didn't do the exhaust install. They did a 1/4" per foot decline towards the outside wall for condensate, and said that it would be ok since the exhaust run was so short, and the exhaust was forced air with an electric blower.

See the image and album below.

As far as I know Indoor second stage regulators need to be externally vented "and" 5' from any ignition source.

But I guess if it passed code in your town and your place blows up (god forbid) your covered.

Great photos, do you have any photos of the vents on the outside wall of the building. I would love to see them.

Thanks.
