I finally have one of my 2 Mr heater heaters running. I did all the natural gas plumbing and wiring. I then had a HVAC installer come and check everything- wiring and pressure check all my black iron pipe joints before I turned on the gas and started it. I also asked him to adjust the manifold pressure. The instructions said it was set for an altitude of sea level to 2000 ft- I live at approx 4400 ft which would require it to be turned down to 3.6 wc from
4.0 wc per their chart. I never saw him make the adjustment- I think he forgot!! I've run it some- what will the results be if he didn't turn the pressure down and i continue to run it? Is there a way I can tell without calling him again and is there a way I can adjust it if he didn't?
The heater is mounted at the ceiling-14'. After running it for about 15 minutes I checked the temp at the ceiling (14')opposite the heater- temp was 103F, at approx 6 ft from floor- temp was 52F, at the floor temp was 40F, outside temp was 20F.
I can mount it under a loft which is 8 ft above the floor to get the heat closer to the floor(me) or would it be better to install some industrial ceiling fans to stir it up? The fans would come in handy in the 100F+ summer days.
I'm ready to start to mount the heater in my second bay and would like to work out the mounting of the first one before I mount the second the same as the first.
Thanks,
Dennis

Hey, Dennis
I also, just finished installing a 45btu Mr. Heater, mine's only 9' off the floor ( 2" from ceiling) I'm getting about 90drg. reading @ the ceiling (this is off a wooden suface)
my thermostate is about 4.5' from the floor set @ 52drg. floor temp is 52 also, I've maintain heat in the shop since early fall with a salamander, so maybe you just need to get that BIG slab of concrete warmed up... fans would be a really good addition to keep the wasted heat down where it's needed
Can't help on the pressure issue, my propane guy made the w.c. adjustment at the regulator coming in to the building.
What's the flame look like ? sure there's some here that will be able to answer that.. why not just call you plumber, after all you paid him to do the job RIGHT ! right.

You can't adjust it without the gauge. If the flame looks good (not to high or yellow) don't worry about it. When you get the other unit up and running get both done.

Regardless of where you mount the heaters, fans will help immensely, as heat is always going to rise, and there's no system of ducts to distribute it evenly. For garages I recommend industrial ceiling fans, they are designed for heat recovery, can withstand the elements (and dust, etc) better, move more air, and are generally better quality fans for comparatively lower prices. The model I recommend is the Envirofan Gold Line. I have plenty more information available if you're interested.
