Mr. Heater Problem

I just, yesterday, finished installing my new Mr Heater MHU50NG. Spent a lot of time doing the job right the first time, and making sure everything was done to plan. I got everything ready, hit the switches, and not a happy moment.

Here is the sequence….. opened the gas valve, turned on the power, and raised the thermostat. The exhaust blower ran, the igniter sparked (ONCE), and THEN the gas came on. No more spark, just one, and it sparked before there was any gas to light.

I cycled through this process about 30 times, and like banging my head on the wall, came back with the same result every time.

Please…..any ideas?? I called Enerco, and they are sending a new board, but I'd like to be sure that will be the fix. It is around 20 below wind chill today, and the heater would be really appreciated now.

New board should fix it I know mine (45K unit) sparks continuously (thought it was shorting out the first time I used it) until the flame is lit for 10-15 sec.

Thanks Mechtech. I sure hope it helps. Right now my igniter only sparks once, and then the gas comes on. I tried adjusting the gap on the igniter, thinking maybe that would help, but still only fires once. The guy from customer support figured a new board will be the fix, but he was also sending a new igniter too.

It will, I had the same problem new board and like what was said that when it is working properly it will fire for about 10 seconds after it ignites. It's nice having a warm garage.
