I have a 24x22 2-car garage with an unfinished ceiling. I was thinking of getting one of Mr. Heater Propane Tank-Top Heaters.

I was wondering if I could use it inside my garage with the garage door closed, or does it have to be vented. Anyone have any experience with these, do they heat the room good? How many degree above ambient temps does it heat it? Was thinking about the triple heater one. Thanks!

How tight is your garage and is it insulated? I've got a 24'x32' with 9.5' ceiling and insulated walls. the heater is a single head and warms it well enough for a garage. I'm not sure about burning 3 heads, I would invest in a CO monitor just to make sure it doesn't build up too much.

There is no insulation in the ceiling - unfinished. There is one window and one door, neither have very good insulation, plan on taking care of that this spring. The walls are drywalled with fiberglass insulation, not sure of the rating.

The walls are about 10 ft, not including the ceiling, add another 5 ft.

Thanks.

Anyone know how well these work? How much will they raise the ambient temps on high? Anyone have any experience?

I had a singleheaded unit I used for a while it worked good in my 21X25 garage with full ceiling so the three head should do fine in yours but you will go through propane tanks like crazy with the 3 head unit . The single head was good for about 8 hours on a standard BBQ tank for me.

I think you should be able to get a larger tank at Lowes or Home Depot. It will be a pain to move around and get filled but it will last longer. You might consider stapping it to a hand truck.

I used the three head unit for 5 years or so, and it worked great. I heated my 24x32 garage with 10ft ceilings to about 65 degrees in about 2 hours time running the burners on the medium setting. I put a Big Maxx Heater in this fall and am no longer using the 3 burner unit since I heat my garage 24/7 now. The three head unit works very well when just want heat for while you are working in the garage.

I use a 2 head unit and heat a 30x50.
On real cold days-20- can raise temp
up to around 50 in about 1 hour.
I run a small fan next to the heater
to move the air around.
Need to crack open a door or window.
