the instruction in the mr heater "instructions" say that for horiz venting only 3" single wall galv 26 gau is required. the optional accesory kit comes with 4" 26 gauge and also 4"*36" bvent...first why are they trying to sell you bigger pipe then required, 2ndly why the bvent if its not required??? i'm thinking the bigger pipe would be a little cooler then the smaller but is it really an issue? any disadvantages to the bigger size? i'm guessing draft is not an issue as its fan forced vent?

The kit you bought works for the 45,000 btu and the 75,000 btu heaters. There is a 3 inch to 4 inch adapter that you use to connect the 4 inch pipe to the 45,000 btu heater.

The horizontal vent may need to be 4 inches, but I suspect by using the 4 inch pipe and adapter, Mr Heater only needs to sell on vent kit for two different products.

FYI the 4 inch Type B pipe does get fairly warm even with the 45,000 btu heater. You can touch it, but you can not hold you hand on it for minutes.

If your heater has a 3" outlet then using 4 inch isn't going to make any difference. You can usually just buy the B-vent and fittings that you need for way cheaper than one of those venting kits.

Keep in mind that a horizontal vent system is required by most codes to be made of stainless steel piping.

The flue pipe should be the same size as whats at the back of the heater. One inch clearance when it passes thru a combustible wall or ceiling. Use type ''b'' double wall. Go above the eve of the structure and use a cap that's designed for double wall pipe.

the heater is 3" but the kit from mr heater is 4" as was stated in above posts... i'm asking what people that did not buy the kit used...since its fan forced exhaust i cant see a prblm with going bigger i just want to make sure im right with that, in my head a bigger pipe would be a little bit cooler (less heat)
