Mr. Heater wiring problem

Hello, I have just installed a Mr. Heater mhu 50 garage heater. I am confident with my abilities with basic wire and gas pipe. The only thing I don't understand is there is a note on the wiring that says wrap the ground wire with elect. tape. This makes no sense since the green wire has an end to attach it to the body of the heater. Has anyone had experience with this type of wiring? Am I missing something? The heater does not start up at all. There is power to the unit.

Did you ever get you problem solved? I have a Big Maxxx heater and there is no place to ground it out.
It's been working just fine tell this weekend now I can't get it to come on, been posting here and there an contacted the service people but they haven't gotten back to me yet.

Is this 110 or 220? Assumining 110 you probably have copper, black and white coming from your main panel. Black is obviously your hot, white is neutral, and copper is the ground. Now if those 3 are wired to the heater and you still have another wire left over on the heater (what they call a ground) use a self tapping sheet metal screw and screw it to the body of the heater or some other metal on the heater. You can also bond it to your copper, but some will argue bonding is not the correct way. Remember some main panels have the white and copper bonded anyways.
